The Wolf Man – SSP037

This month Greg and Karen are featuring movies involving wolves. For our first entry, Karen has selected the Universal film “The Wolf Man”, from 1941. Greg and Karen discuss the film while drinking a Tequila Moonrise which Karen found in her True Blood Cookbook. We hope that you enjoy it.

Tequila Moonrise Recipe

• 1 1/2 oz tequila
• 1 1/2 oz Ruby Mixer (recipe below)
• 3/4 oz grenadine
• Orange slice and maraschino cherry for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Pour the tequila in a highball glass with ice and top with the Ruby Mixer
  2. Add the grenadine by tilting the glass and pouring it down the side of the glass by flipping the bottle vertically very quickly
  3. Garnish with the orange slice and cherry

Ruby Mixer Recipe

• 4 oz carbonated orange soda (such as Orangina or San Pellegrino Aranciata)
• 1 1/2 oz grenadine
• 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

Instructions:

  1. Combine the orange soda, grenadine, and lemon juice in a pitcher
  2. Stir to blend before using

A Brief Synopsis: Lon Chaney Jr. stars in this horror masterpiece, featuring elaborate settings and a chilling score about a man who is attacked by a werewolf and then becomes one himself at each full moon.

On this very special New Year’s Eve episode, Greg has chosen to subject us to the 1980 slasher film “Terror Train”, starring Jamie Lee Curtis. The cocktail for this week is the Purple Hooter Shooter. The recipe from Cocktail Builder is below.

Purple Hooter Shooter Recipe

• 1 1/2 oz vodka
• 1 dash raspberry liqueur
• 1/2 oz lime juice

Instructions:

  1. Pour all the ingredients into a shot glass
  2. Serve
  3. Enjoy!

A Brief Synopsis: Three years after a prank went terribly awry, the six college students responsible are targeted by a masked killer at a New Year’s Eve party aboard a moving train.

Ghost Cocktail Recipe

• 1 1/4 oz vanilla vodka
• 1/4 oz half & half
• 1/4 oz simple syrup
• 1/2 oz white chocolate liqueur
• white chocolate shavings

Instructions:

  1. Mix all the ingredients in a shaker with ice
  2. Strain into a chilled martini glass rimmed with white chocolate shavings
  3. Enjoy!

A Brief Synopsis: An old bitter miser who makes excuses for his uncaring nature learns real compassion when three ghosts visit him on Christmas Eve.

Anna and the Apocalypse – SSP034

Greg and Karen continue their month long review of holiday horror films. This week Greg has chosen the 2017 film “Anna and the Apocalypse”. Join our hosts as they discuss the film while enjoying a “Salted Caramel White Russian”. The recipe that Greg found on Inspired By Charm is below.

Salted Caramel White Russian

• 1 part Salted Caramel coffee liqueur
• 2 parts Salted Caramel Vodka
• 1 part Half & Half
• Caramel sauce to garnish

Instructions:

  1. In a cocktail shaker, combine the Kahlua, vodka, and half & half. Stir with a spoon to combine.
  2. Drip caramel sauce down the side of a drinking glass. Add ice until the glass is about three quarters full; then pour in your cocktail.
  3. Garnish with a straw and serve.
  4. Enjoy!

A Brief Synopsis: In this gleeful mashup, Anna and her friends must fight – and sing – their way through a zombie invasion to reach the supposed safety of their school, not knowing if their parents and friends will still be alive when they get there.

Spiked Eggnog Recipe

• 8 oz store bought eggnog
• 1 1/2 oz bourbon
• 1/2 oz amaretto liqueur
• ground cinnamon
• ground nutmeg

Instructions:

  1. Pour store bought eggnog into a tall glass
  2. Add the bourbon and amaretto liqueur
  3. Stir
  4. Sprinkle ground cinnamon and ground nutmeg on top
  5. Enjoy!

A Brief Synopsis: Not even Santa Claus is safe from the evil that descends on Bailey Downs, a small town suddenly plagued with malevolent spirits, zombie elves and Krampus – the anti-Santa Claus.

Krampus Cocktail Recipe

• blackberries
• 2 oz vanilla vodka
• apple cranberry sparking cider
• Everclear

Instructions:

  1. Muddle the blackberries
  2. Add vanilla vodka into shaker tin with ice
  3. Shake for 10 seconds and double strain
  4. Top with apple cranberry sparkling cider
  5. Top with Everclear and ignite

A Brief Synopsis: When young Max turns his back on Christmas, his lack of festive spirit unleashes the wrath of Krampus, a demonic force of ancient evil intent on punishing non-believers.

But no one else has seen the goo, and policeman Dave refuses to believe the kids without proof.

A Brief Synopsis: The Gecko brothers, two dangerous outlaws on a wild crime spree, kidnap a father and his two kids and head south to a seedy Mexican bar to hide out in safety. Soon they realize that they’re not in a typical bar, as the entire place begins to teem with vicious, blood-sucking vampires. With the odds stacked greatly against them, the Geckos are forced to team up with their hostages in order to make it out alive.
