Stroke of Midnight Cocktail Recipe

• 1 oz Cointreau
• 1/4 oz grenadine
• 4 oz champagne

Instructions:

1. Combine ingredients apart from champagne in a mixing glass.
2. Add ice and stir briefly.
3. Strain into a chilled champagne flute.
4. Top off with champagne.
5. Garnish with an orange twist.

A Brief Synopsis: Lonely women wanting to celebrate New Year’s Eve become easy prey for a maniacal murdering misogynist whose New Year’s resolution is to kill women at every stroke of midnight.

Continuing on her Christmas theme, Karen has chosen the 1980 cult classic “Christmas Evil” for our viewing pleasure this week. Join Greg and Karen as they discuss the film while they enjoy a “Santa” cocktail. The recipe that Karen found on mariasmixingbowl.com is below.

Santa Cocktail Recipe (makes 2 cocktails)

• 4 oz grenadine
• 4 oz vodka
• 8 oz cranberry juice
• 16 oz Sprite
• corn syrup
• granulated sugar
• maraschino cherries

Instructions:

1. Start by rimming your glass. Coat the rim in the corn syrup then coat with the granulated sugar.
2. Time to assemble the cocktail by grabbing a cocktail shaker and adding ice.
3. Pour in the grenadine, your favorite vodka, juice and sprite.
4. Shake lightly.
5. Strain into the rimmed glass.
6. Add a cherry to garnish.
7. Serve and enjoy.

A Brief Synopsis: Comical festive frights. A toy-maker who revels in the Christmas spirit suffers a mental break when his work is met with hypocrisy and cynicism and goes on a yuletide killing spree.

Instructions:

2. Add some ice and fill up with Sprite.
3. Preferred served with a blue cherry.

A Brief Synopsis: In Los Angeles, television journalist Karen White is traumatized in the course of aiding the police in their arrest of a serial murderer. Her doctor recommends that she attend an isolated psychiatric retreat led by Dr. George Waggner. But while Karen is undergoing therapy, her colleague Chris, investigates the bizarre circumstances surrounding her shock. Wanting to make all of her December film selections Christmas themed, Karen has chosen the classic 1936 film starring Lionel Barrymore, “The Devil Doll” for our viewing pleasure this week. Join Greg and Karen as they discuss the film while they enjoy a “Mad Scientist Cocktail“. The recipe that Karen found on kickingitwithkelly.com is below.

Mad Scientist Cocktail Recipe

• 1/2 oz blue curacao
• 3/4 oz Chambord
• 1 oz vodka
• Equal parts cranberry juice and lemon lime soda
• Dry ice

Instructions:

1. Mix your first three ingredients in a cocktail shaker with regular ice. Strain into your glass (or beaker!!) Fill glass with equal parts Cranberry Juice and Lemon Lime Soda. Add *dry ice just before serving.
2. *Do not handle dry ice with your bare hands. It can cause severe burns or frostbite. Use tongs to add dry ice to your drink. The dry ice will smoke for about 5 minutes.

A Brief Synopsis: Wrongfully convicted of a robbery and murder, Paul Lavond breaks out of prison with a genius scientist who has devised a way to shrink humans. When the scientist dies during the escape, Lavond heads for his lab, using the shrinking technology to get even with those who framed him, and vindicate himself in both the public eye and the eyes of his daughter, Lorraine. When an accident leaves a crazed assistant dead, however, Lavond must again make an escape.

Egyptian Martini Recipe

• 2 oz raspberry liqueur
• 1 oz vanilla vodka
• 1/2 oz triple sec liqueur
• Maraschino cherries or fresh raspberries for serving
• Optional: a dash of sparkling water

Instructions:

1. In a cocktail shaker, mix together the raspberry liqueur, the vanilla vodka and the triple sec. Shake well.
2. Pour into a martini glass garnished with maraschino cherries and/or raspberries.
3. Float a bit of sparkling water over the top if desired and enjoy!

A Brief Synopsis: A team of British archaeologists led by Sir Joseph Whemple discover the mummified remains of the ancient Egyptian prince Imhotep, along with the legendary scroll of Thoth. Celebrating the 97th anniversary of it’s release, Greg has chosen the 1925 silent film “The Phantom of the Opera” starring Lon Chaney, for our viewing pleasure this week. Join Greg and Karen as they discuss the film while enjoying a “Red Death Halloween Cocktail“. Greg found the recipe below on cravingsomecreativity.com.

Red Death Halloween Cocktail

• 5 oz Coca-Cola. Pepsi and Diet cola varieties also work.
• 1 1/2 Tbsp Grenadine
• 1/2 oz rum
• 2 maraschino cherries
• 1 cocktail pick
• 1 oz raspberry liqueur

Instructions:

1. Chill all ingredients in the refrigerator prior to layering.
2. Measure and add grenadine in the bottom of the glass.
3. Measure out the raspberry liqueur with a jigger. Using the back of a spoon placed against the glass rim, slowly pour the raspberry liqueur over the spoon into the glass. Repeat with the rum and then the Cola.
4. Garnish with two maraschino cherries on a cocktail pick.

A Brief Synopsis: A grotesquely disfigured composer known as “The Phantom” haunts Paris’ opera house, where he’s secretly grooming Christine Daae to be an opera diva. Luring her to his remote underground lair, The Phantom declares his love. But Christine loves Raoul de Chagny and plans to elope with him. When The Phantom learns this, he abducts Christine.
