The two spoke in private and Barquin told his story. Barquin said he had just gotten married and when his wife saw his genitals, she was shocked by the terrible scars. 3. Sister Eileen ShawPatricia Cahill was only 16 years old when she confided to Sister Eileen Shaw, a member of the Sisters of Charity from New Jersey, about how her now-deceased uncle, a priest, had sexually abused her from when she was 5 until 13 years old. Cahill, who wasn’t close to her family, saw the nun as a mentor and someone she could trust. 2. Sister Leticia LopezBoth Sister Leticia Lopez and Sister Luz Granada had rooms next to each other at the nunnery in Bogota, Colombia’s Candelaria District. Sister Granada was known for her work with sex workers along with their children. She also stood out thanks to her striking red hair and blue eyes - characteristics that were unusual in the region. 1. Get ready for Scary Mysteries, Twisted Two’s.Hi-Fi Murders On April 22, 1974, the Hi-Fi Shop in Ogden, Utah was getting ready to close shop for the day. Employees, Stanley Walker (20) and Michelle Ansley (18) were inside the store at the time. Without warning, several men arrived at the shop aboard two vans. Three of the men entered sporting handguns while one person stayed inside the getaway vehicle. The two employees were tied up then taken down the basement as the gang started robbing the store. As the robbery progressed, a 16-year old boy, Byron Cortney Naisbitt, walked inside the shop to say thank you to Stanley Walker (an employee) for letting him park in the store parking lot while running an errand next door. He too was bound and taken hostage. As it became late, Stanley Walker’s father, Orren Walker (43) went to the store to check on his son. He was also taken hostage. Then, Naisbitt’s mother, Carol Naisbitt, arrived at the shop to look for his son and she ended up becoming a hostage too. By this time, the men now held five people hostage in the basement. The Claremont Serial KillerTwenty-eight years ago, a woman’s silk kimono was stolen off a washing line in Claremont, a high-end suburb in Perth, Australia. This same kimono led police to the arrest of one of the most terrifying serial killers in the area, two decades later.It was in 1996 when 18-year old Sarah Spiers called a taxi from a phone booth at 2:00 A.M. after leaving Club Bayview. Witnesses spotted her standing on the side of Stirling Road as she waited for the cab. One witness mentioned seeing a car stop in front of her. A Redditor named “joelikesmusic” began the thread several years ago by posting a mysterious hotel room with unusual taste in décor. According to the user, room 322 was accidentally booked for his colleague who was then told it wasn’t meant to be booked for him at all. In fact, it shouldn’t have been listed in the first place. It’s not tough to see why because the room looks like it’s been decorated to look like a snuff-film location. Dannion BrinkleyIt was September 17, 1975 when 25-year old, Dannion Brinkley was talking to his best friend, Tom, back in his home at Aiken, South Carolina. A thunderstorm was brewing outside as Dannion was talking on the phone. From out of nowhere, lightning struck the phone line, sending 180,000 volts down the line, into Dannion Brinkley’s head and through his body. The lightning strike was so strong it threw the 25-year old across the room while leaving his shoes permanently welded to the floor. His next conscious thought was seeing his wife and his best friend, Tom, attempt to revive him. Clinically, Dannion was dead and he was experiencing a vivid near-death experience. He recalls that as a spirit, he was starting to travel down a tunnel and there were various forms coming from this misty blue light. He then felt as if everything he had done or seen before in his life surge inside of him. One elderly resident called them “very beautiful” and looked like they were “covered in jewels.” Some also described them as having colorful crests.Jim Sullivan With the release of his posthumous album, psych-folk musician Jim Sullivan is making headlines again, decades after he first released his 1969 album, U.F.O. - an album that featured an unusual song about walking into the desert, leaving his family behind and being abducted by U.F.O’s. Released by Minnie Records in 1969, few copies of Jim Sullivan’s albums were pressed and many devoted fans do what they can to obtain original copies. Although the record itself wasn’t a big hit at the time of release, it got massive attention when mysterious circumstances marked Sullivan’s later disappearance. Born in 1940, Jim Sullivan grew up in San Diego. He was raised there by his Irish-American parents. In high school, Sullivan was a quarterback but later decided to play music after listening to a local blues group. When her body was found, it was revealed she had been raped, beaten then strangled with a phone cord. Her body was dismembered, wrapped in a plastic bag then placed in a dump in Kičevo. As luck would have it, it was freelance crime reporter, Vlado Taneski’s hometown. Taneski wrote an impressive story about the murder, wowing readers with detail and information. 3. Arthur ShawcrossIt all began with a criminal streak of arson. Borne in Maine in 1945, Arthur Shawcross grew up in a bad family situation. According to him, he was molested by his aunt at 9, experimented with homosexuality and bestiality by 11 and had sexual relations with his sister in high school. Later he joined the army and claimed to have seen combat in Vietnam when in truth he didn’t. He later married twice. And it was his second wife who said Shawcross had a penchant for starting fires, and derived “sexual enjoyment” from it. 2. Leonarda CianciulliKnown as the “Soap-Maker of Correggio”, Leonarda Cianciulli from Italy is one ruthless woman. Growing up in Montella di Avellino, Cianciulli had an unhappy childhood. She received little love from her mother because she was born as a result of a rape. As a young woman, she had her palm read and was told she would marry but all of her children would die. When she got married, it was to a local registry clerk, but her parents strongly disapproved of the union. She believed that during their marriage her mother cursed her and doomed her to a life of misery. 1. Rodney AlcalaBorn as Rodrigo Jacques Alcala Buquor, his family was originally from San Antonio, Texas before their father moved them to Mexico in 1951. But three years later, his father left the family and his mother took him and his siblings to Los Angeles. At 17, he joined the U.S. Army, serving as a clerk, but was later discharged after a nervous breakdown. He had gone AWOL and hitchhiked his way home. Marconi Scientist Conspiracy It sounds like a bad movie script, 25 prominent scientists and technicians found dead, one by one, in unusual circumstances. And all of them worked with the same company – Marconi. The mystery began in the 80s and lasted up until the 1990s. After a series of mergers and takeovers, the latest iteration of the Marconi Company is known as the Marconi Electronic Systems. The company today exists as part of the BAE Systems Electronics Limited and focuses on developing futuristic weaponry along with spy-satellite technology. The first of the suspicious deaths started with Dr. Keith Bowden on March 1982. The professor was a senior computer scientist and a valuable member of Marconi. While driving one day, his car left a highway, dropped from a bridge and down into an embankment and abandoned rail yard. He died immediately. No alcohol was found in his system and an investigator discovered someone swapped the tires in his Rover with a set of old and worn out ones.Haunted Mizpah Hotel Located smack dab in the city of Nevada, Las Vegas, the Haunted Mizpah Hotel has become an iconic spot for ghost hunters and hotel lovers. Dubbed as the “Jewel in the Desert” The Mizpah Hotel in Tonopah has been a treasured landmark in the area since it was first created in 1907. The Mizpah was once considered as among the most elegant hotels in the western United States and was the tallest building in Nevada until 1929. It even had the very first electric elevator installed. Although it has been in operation for years since, in 1999, the hotel was closed for 12 years for renovation.
