Howard Green and Carol MarronOn December 1979, a passing motorist in West Paterson thought he saw two figures lying by the side of the road. Police were called in to investigate and what they found were two sackcloth-wrapped bodies of a male and female. The two were later identified as Carol Marron, 33, and Howard Green, 51. Finding dead bodies by the roadside was disturbing enough but police found more evidence it was more than just casual murder. Both the victims had been severely beaten until they died. 3. Ottis TooleBorn on March 5, 1947, Otis Toole led a disturbed life since childhood. He was born to a mother who was a zealot Christian while his older sister abused him at a young age and forced him to wear girls dresses. His grandmother was a Satanist who forced Ottis to help her rob graves and secure body parts she needed for her rituals. Prior to his father leaving them, he also abused young Ottis by forcing him to do various sexual acts for his male friends. In addition, Ottis only had an IQ of 75 and was likely a functional autistic. When he dropped out of school by 9th grade, he would meet local men in local gay bars. Ottis would later admit to police he knew he was gay by the time he was 10 years old and had come out to his family. 2. Evangelist Family MassacreBorn in 1885 in Naples, Italy, Benjamin Evangelista, moved to the United States, in Pennsylvania by 1904 at the age of 19 years old. He changed his last name from Evangelista to Evangelist and decided to take on an unusual job. In 1906, Benny Evangelist began receiving "visions from God" and decided to record the visions in a four volume book called "The Oldest History of the World: Discovered by Occult Science." He soon declared himself to be a divine prophet, mystic healer and spiritual leader while working as a carpenter for his day job. 1. Richard RamirezTexas-born Richard Ramirez grew up in a large family. At a young age, Ramirez received multiple head injuries, particularly when he was hit by a swing at the age of 5. This caused him to start having epileptic fits. During his adolescent years, he began taking drugs and became heavily influenced by his cousin, Miguel. Miguel Ramirez was also a violent war veteran who often told Richard how he had tortured various Vietnamese women while in service. He even took pictures of his brutality and showed it to Richard. By the time Richard was 13, he witnessed Miguel kill and murder his wife. But on October 7, 1987, a radio reporter named Danny Gordon checked in with the sheriff and was told of an incredible story. The sheriff claimed that three Whytheville officers had seen a UFO. Taking the story with a grain of salt, Danny reported it on his broadcast as a sort of entertaining piece. But then calls began flooding in from his audience who calimed to have seen the strange object too. Danny then set up October 17th as a special night for listeners to call in with their UFO sighting stories and the station was overwhelmed. One lady described the UFO as long and huge with blinking lights as it quietly moved through the sky. Meanwhile, a male caller said he saw it as egg-shaped and another person said it was flashing red, green and white lights as it moved. Danny initially believed there was a rational explanation for what it must have been. He thought it was probably an experimental military craft courtesy of Virginia’s Langley Air Force Base which was nearby. #2 Donnybrook Serial KillerThe town of Donny Brook in South Africa has had its share of ups and downs. But from in1995, the residents there grappled with a different kind of menace – among them lived a psychopathic serial killer who randomly terrorized the community.Christopher Zikode was only 21 years old when he began his life of crime. The first time he was arrested was in July of 1995 when he attacked a young woman. He was charged with the attempted murder of a lady named, Beauty Zulu, but was unfortunately set free on bail. Instead of reforming after his prison encounter, Christopher only grew more vicious. During his time out of prison, he committed five additional offences. This included two attempted murders and three housebreaking charges with intent to rape and murder. Despite being young, or perhaps because of it Christopher was a brazen criminal who did not care much for tactics. His main MO was to break down the front door of his victim’s home – often choosing single women who lived alone – but he also didn’t mind if there were males there either. The Taos HumResidents of Taos, New Mexico have always complained about the existence of a hum, but it wasn't until 1993 when the phenomenon became so noticeable that they petitioned the government to conduct an investigation. Like most hum phenomenons occurring all over the world, the Taos hum has several distinct characteristics. For one, only a small number of residents can hear it. It's also persistent and has been reported by those who hear it that it occurs at least once every week. It's often described as a low frequency sound similar to an idling diesel truck or a high-powered bass sound. Those who have heard it identify it as having a modulated sound between 30 to 80 Hz. 3. Underground Mapping of StonehengeStonehenge has become one of the most iconic prehistoric structures in the world today. For decades, it's been the subject of questions, where did it come from? Who built it and why? And just as we think we're making headway, Stonehenge gives up a bit more of its secrets that could change how we look at it. Dubbed as the "Stonehenge Hidden Landscape Project," researchers used non-invasive techniques with the help of various advanced tools like magnetometers and ground penetrating radar on bikes to create a comprehensive underground map of the area underneath the Structure2. The Toxic WomanOn February 19, 1994, Gloria Ramirez was admitted to the Riverside General emergency room after suffering from an advanced stage of cervical cancer. When paramedics admitted her, she was disoriented and confused. She had Bradycardia or an unusual rested heart rate of 60 beats per minute, coupled with an abnormal breathing pattern. To relieve her from her suffering, the nurses gave her a mixture of sedatives including valium, lorezapam and diazepam but Ramirez was responding poorly to the medication. 1. Antikythera MechanismIt's been dubbed as an "ancient computer," yet even today, researchers still don't know for sure what the Antikythera device is for and who made it. On May 17, 1902, archeologist, Valerios Stais, found the unusual mechanism inside a wooden box in wreckage off the coast of the Greek Island of Antikythera. The ship that bore the device is assumed to be Roman and sank there around the middle of the 1st century BCE. There were countless artifacts also found inside the ship like marble statues, coins, jewelry, pottery and unusual glassware. While out in the wilderness they stopped by a popular rest stop along the Appalachian Trail called Spence Field. It lays along the tenessee and North carolin boarder and Dennis, his older brother and two other boys thought it would be fun to pull a prank on the adults. They decided they would split up and go into the woods and then simultaneously jump out to scare them It was supposed to be a fun prank and Three of the boys went in one direction while the youngest, Dennis, went the other way. The only reason he was separated from the three was because he had been wearing a bright red shirt, which made him easily visible and they didn’t want to get caught. #2 Charles Walton It was February 14, 1945 when 75-year old Charles Walton left home heading to work at a farm known as the Firs. He lived in Warwickshire , England with his niece, Edith, whom he adopted when she was a young girl. Charles was described as a quiet man and a loner. He didn’t like socializing but he wasn’t hated and didn’t have any known enemies. On that morning, he left his house carrying a slash hook and pitchfork, along with a walking stick which helped him with his arthritis. Charles was employed by Alfred Potter, the farm owner who was known for having a volatile temper. Later that evening Edith came home to find the house empty and She had expected Charles to be home by 4 PM. Alarmed, she realized it was unlikely that he was out hanging out with friends because of his solitary nature. Although there was a minor slump in her career while she was transitioning from a child actress to an adult, she eventually found her momentum again until the fateful day she died on November 29, 1981. 4. Bob CraneConsidered as one of Hollywood's biggest murder mysteries, the death of Hogan's Heroes star, Bob Crane still baffles many people today. Crane was a popular sitcom star in the 60s but a decade later his life came to a an end under violent and stange cirumstances. In 1978 he was in Scottsdale acting in a play when he was found bludgeoned to death inside his apartment. The 49-year old actor was severly beaten and an electric cord had been wrapped around his neck. Not long after, sordid details about Crane's personal life began to surface. Apparently, the star collected videotapes and photographs of his various sexual liaisons with women. 3. Jean Spangler On October 7, 1949, Jean Spangler, a beautiful 26-year old dancer, model and bit part actress mysteriously disappeared. Jean was a divorcee who had one child. She left her daughter in the care of her sister-in-law before heading out saying she had to go work on set. However, when she didn't come back the following day, her sister-in-law phoned authorites. When police began the investigation, they discovered that the last person to see her was a store clerk who distinctly remembered her, but After that, they couldn't find a single trace of her. 2. Peter IversBest known as an experimental musician, Peter Ivers may not be as well known today but if you were a fan of a show called "New Wave Theatre" in the 80’s then you might have heard of him. His show was a platform for bands like Fear and The Dead Kennedy's. More than a host, Ivers was also a musician. He was a gifted harmonica player and even scored David Lynch's cult classic "Eraserhead." Later on, he opened for Fleetwood Mac and dated film producer, Lucy Fisher, who supervised on films like Jerry Maguire and Men in Black. 1. Jimi Hendrix Michael Jeffery isn't a household name but he was associated with one of the most famous musician that has ever lived – Jimi Hendrix, and Jefferies’ was his manager. And now some say that he was actually directly responsible for the late rockers death.Jeffery was best known in the business for first handling the group The Animals. Even though they gained plenty of success, the band ultimately blamed Jeffery for their demise and breakup. They accused him of overworking them and appropriating their earnings. Dead Cats in WashingtonYou’ve heard of serial killers but what about a serial cat killer? Well now you have because it appears, there’s one in Washington State where Cats are turning up dead one by one. Since February, about 12 felines have been found gruesomely and violently killed. 3. Mysterious Australian DisappearanceThe small town of Larrimah, Australia is embroiled in a mystery. With an official population of just 12, Larrimah is a nearly forgotten town. It’s tiny and run down, and It’s next door neighbor is the 3,000 km-long Stuart Highway, famous for missing person’s cases and disappearances. This was the same highway where British backpacker, Pater Falconio disappeared decades ago. Right now, only travelers or those with business wander into Larrimah, And when they do, there are only two spots of interest to see: The Pink Panther Hotel and Fran’s Tea House. 2. Criss Crossed ExOn July 24, 2011, police found the torso and lower leg of a female floating around Oyster Creek in Richmond, Texas. When divers were sent in to scour the lake, they then found more of the female’s dismembered remains. These remains were later identified as belonging to 27-year old, Laura Ackerson. A mother of two, it was unclear how she was killed, but autopsy reports showed she may have been asphyxiated and suffered some form of blunt force trauma to the neck. 1. Jaws Films Hidden Secret For decades, the identity of a woman nicknamed, “The Lady in the Dunes” has haunted detectives and sleuths everywhere. Found on July 26, 1974 in the Race Point Dunes of Provincetown, Massachusetts, the unidentified remains of a woman were found by a teenager walking her dog. The body was just yards away from the road and badly decomposed because of prolonged exposure to the heat and the outdoors. The trio uncovered flagstones after several feet. Then, about ten feet after that, they found a tier of rotten logs. 4. Forrest Fenn What's one of the best ways to leave a legacy? Tell everyone you buried $2 million dollars worth of treasure and urge them to go out and find it. That's exactly what eccentric multimillionaire, Forrest Fenn has done. Fenn is a former air force pilot, business entrepreneur, writer and artifacts collector. At 86 when he penned his memoir, Thrill of the Chase, he decided to stir controversy by stating he buried a treasure chest containing $2 million worth of gold and jewels in the Rocky Mountains, just North of Santa Fe. Clues pointing to the exact location of the treasure are hidden inside a poem in his book. He has also given additional hints and clues in interviews as well as blog postings. 3. Beale CyphersThe Beale Cyphers or the Beale Papers is a three-page pamphlet containing cipher codes published in 1885. Out of all three pamphlets, only one has been deciphered so far and what it says is quite intriguing. According to the story, a frontiersman named Thomas J. Beale left behind the cipher texts in the 1820’s. He met an innkeeper by the name of Robert Morris and left behind the pamphlets in a strongbox before going out mining. Over the course of several months, Morris received letters from Beale chronicling his mining expedition and providing instructions to Morris not to open the strongbox until 1832. 2. Saddle Ridge GoldDiscovered in 2013, the Saddle Ridge Gold is one of the biggest treasure finds in recent history. It began when a couple walked their dog one morning around their property in Califorinia. Although they've used the trail numerous times, that morning, they discovered a rusty tin can poking out of the ground. They took the can home thinking it contained lead paint. But while struggling to carry it, a portion of the lid cracked open to reveal the edge of a single gold coin. 1. Copper Scroll TreasureFirst discovered in the caves of Qumran in Israel, the Copper Scroll was found alongside the scrolls that would later on become labeled as the Dead Sea Scrolls and eventually make up the Bible. However, the copper scroll was different from the rest of those found in the stash. Whereas the Dead Sea Scrolls were written on papyrus and paper, this one is made and written on copper mixed with tin. The scroll was found on March 14, 1952 and one of the last 15 scrolls found in Cave 3 of the Qumran site. Every week Twisted Two's dives into a pair of uniquely terrifying true stories that are worthy of a more in depth look.#1 Damon & Devon Routier - Rowlett, TexasOn June 6, 1996, 911 received a frantic call from the Routier home in Rowlett, Texas. Darlie Routier told the operator she woke up with an intruder inside her home and that they had stabbed her two sons, Devon and Damon before attacking her. Police were on the scene within 3 minutes of the call. After securing the home, they tended to the victims. 6 year old DEvon had suffered a major stab wound that went through to his torso and was pronounced dead on the scene. Meanwhile, Damon who was 5, was still gasping for breath and paramedics did their best to help the boy but he also soon died from a stab wound to the back. As for Darlie, she had superficial wounds on her arms and a slash across her throat that was just millimeters away from hitting her carotid artery. Darlie recounted how she had fallen asleep in the living room with her two boys. Her husband, Darin, and their 7-month old son Drake were asleep in the upstairs bedroom and they were left unharmed. She said she woke up to a man standing over and attacking her. She screamed for Darin and the intruder was alarmed and fled the home, dropping the knife he used in the kitchen. #2 Michael Silka – Manley Hot Springs, AlaskaManley Hot Springs in Alaska was a quiet small town boasting 80 residents in 1984. But in May of that year, a drifter by the name of Michael Silka passed through and did something that nobday there will ever forget. As a young boy, Michael loved the outdoors. He was fascinated with guns and has had a long history of run ins with the law. By high school, he and his brother ran away from home and lived in the woods, only returning after they had depleted their supplies. Michael later joined the US Military on the advice of a neighbor but by 1981, he was discharged due to an assault and discharging his weapon in the barracks. During his military training, he was rated as an expert marksman with a grenade launcher and M16 rifle. After leaving the army he worked odd jobs but also accrued more law enforcement problems. At one point, he spent 4 days in jail for resisting arrest. The auditorium had a distinctive circular seating area that featured raised seats and it was capable of accomidating more than 900 people. 4. “Would You Help US” Sitting on more than 1000 acres of farmland, the Athens Lunatic Asylum, otherwise dubbed as "The Ridges," has always been considered controversial and haunted. In Ohio On January 9, 1874, the asylum first opened its doors and throughout the years has welcomed thousands of patients. The main building alone had 544 rooms and as time went by, many more areas were added as the building was expanded. Some of the later additions included a tuberculosis ward, gymnasium and even a dairy barn. 3. “Get OUT!” Dublin's most haunted landmark, The Hellfire Club sits a top Montpelier Hill. The abandoned building has had a long storied history and today is a very popular tourist attraction. William Connelly initially built it as a personal hunting lodge in 1725. It's said he used the stones from an ancient burial site to build part of the building. After Connelly died, the structure was rented out and became know as the Hell Fire Club – a gathering place for men to partake in lewd and immoral acts. 2. “I’m Not Crazy” The Village Salon is part of a set of historic buildings that stand in the heart of Grand Cane, Louisiana. Back at the 1800s, the set of buildings once served as a barbershop and even functioned as a courthouse that managed small fines. The smiley young boy was taken to school by his stepmother, Terri and At around 8:45 AM, she left as Kyron headed into his class. Terri said she then went to run errands and was at the grocery store until arund 10 AM. After that she then drove around town with her daughter in an attempt to soothe her earache. Then she headed to the local gym and was back home around 1:15 PM where she uploaded a photo of Kyron that she had taken at the fair that morning to her social media accounts. By 3 PM, Terri, Kyron’s dad, Kaine and their daughter, Kiara went to the bus stop to meet their son. However when the bus arrived, the driver said that the boy had never gotten on it in the first place. When the bus driver called the school secretary, she told his father Kyron never showed up for his math class and he was marked absent. Terri told the secretary she didn’t have Kyron with her since she dropped him off that morning and that he was missing. The school immediately called 911 who subsequently notified the police. #2 The Stanford Prison ExperimentFor psychologist Phillip Zimbardo and the researchers behind the Stanford Prison Experiment, the study was supposed to focus on how individuals would adapt when placed in a powerless situation. Funded by the U.S. Office of Naval Research, they wanted to test the hypothesis that it’s the personality traits inherent in prisoners and guards that are the main reason behind any abusive behavior present in the prison system. The experiment involved a two-week prison simulation done in a converted portion of the Stanford University Psychology Building, set to resemble the inside of a prison. Over 70 college applicants answered the ad. Each one was given diagnostic interviews as well as tests to determine their personality. The initial screening eliminated those with medical disabilities, psychological issues and any history of crime and abuse.
