Ep 161

The Lords of Salem (2013) feat. Adrian Torres

Episode | 123 min | Jan 19, 2022

Don't go into Apartment 5! For 2013's "underseen or underrated" we're joined by Boom Howdy's Adrian Torres to talk about Rob Zombie's The Lords of Salem.

There's no shortage of things to discuss, including Zombie's divisive reception by horror fans and accusations of nepotism for casting wife Sheri Moon in his projects (we like her, so back off!).

Plus: questions about who the villain is, praise for the low budget production design, the "cunty" three witches, Joe fangirls over Meg Foster and Ken Foree, Trace's grim reading of Heidi's fate and debates about just how blasphemous this text is.

Also: 1, 2, 3, 4, Mambo #5

An Interview With Kevin Williamson

Bonus | 25 min | Jan 14, 2022

Surprise, Sidney! We've got the iconic Kevin Williamson on the line and we're asking him all the questions you've been dying to ask him over the years about the beloved Scream franchise, including but not limited to:

  • What exactly happened with those script leaks during the production of Scream 2?
  • How did he feel when he first saw Scream 3 (and when did he first see Scream 3?)?
  • Which part of his Scream 4 script is he most bummed didn't make it into the final cut?
  • Is Robbie really gay?
  • And just what were his plans for Scream 5 and Scream 6 had Scream 4 been successful?

We've got the answers to these questions and more, so sit back, relax, and enjoy the screams!

Porno Queers: 'Scream' Parody 'Cream For Me' (2016)

Bonus | 39 min | Jan 13, 2022

Explicit Content Warning - Don't let Trace's mom listen to this!

To celebrate the arrival of Scream (2022), we're checking out Bromo's gay porn parody, Cream For Me (2016), starring Tom Faulk, Tobias, Vadim Black, James Parfitt and Brad Banks as Ghostface.

Following an overview of our experiences with porn, we break down this four part series scene by (lazy) scene. It's all up for discussion: cheap production values, power bottoms vs slow fucking, 4K buttholes, straw taints, and incest & rape fantasy. We're not trying to yuck anyone's yum, but we demand better! Thankfully Joe has some (future?) recommendations.

Ep 160

American Mary (2012) feat. Becky Sayers

Episode | 120 min | Jan 12, 2022

Grab your black leather apron and your surgical tools because we're visiting the offices of Dr. Mary Mason in the Soska Sisters' 2012 rape-revenge film American Mary. Joining us for the discussion is Becky Sayers, co-host of the Paper Street Podcast.

Join us as we discuss the film's influences before picking apart the mixed messaging of the film (feminist themes, destigmatization of the body modification community) and having another candid discussion about rape in cinema.

Plus, more Lizzie McGuire, Dr. Alan Grant (no, not that one), controversial off-screen antics, fancy doctor barn lofts and plenty of uh...flesh squelches.

Ep 159

Scream 4 (2011) Part 2

Episode | 143 min | Jan 6, 2022

Ready for seconds? In Part 2 of our super sized discussion on Scream 4, we are going through the iconic film beat by beat and deleted scene by deleted scene.

Expect plenty of praise for the women: Marley Shelton, Alison Brie, Courteney Cox, Neve Campbell, Hayden Panettiere and, of course, Emma Roberts, who absolutely steals the show as Jill Roberts.

Plus: our reactions to the increased gore, Joe's continued disdain for Britt Robertson, Trace's fave Ghostface & Jill line readings, debates about Robbie's queerness and why this film is the gift that just keeps giving.

Ep 159

Scream 4 (2011) Part 1

Episode | 100 min | Jan 5, 2022

This is not f*cking Trevor, but it is a new year and that means we're covering another Scream film! To kick off our fourth year(!!!), we're finally (finally!) covering Wes Craven's Scream 4 (2011) in a discussion that proved so big we had to split it in two!

Join us as we travel back to Woodsboro to discuss the troubled production (Weinstein woes, rewrites, reshoots, etc.) before Trace's better half Ari Drew pops in to discuss the ins & outs of one of the screenplay's early drafts.

Plus: we rake some of Scream 4's harshest critics across the coals, review some of those last-minute casting changes and discuss the reappraisal that the film has seen over the past few years. Tune in for Part 2 tomorrow!

Ep 158

Witchboard (1986) feat. Kill By Kill

Episode | 121 min | Dec 29, 2021

Turn on the Plot Broadcasting Network, grab your carpenter's hatchet and check for that secret figure 8 symbol because we're discussing Kevin Tenney's debut feature Witchboard (1986)! Joining us for the discussion are the dynamic duo of Patrick and Gena from Kill By Kill!

Join us for the rare episode in which Joe is crude and Trace is a prude as we go all in on the sexual chemistry between the film's straight male protagonists Jim (Todd Allen) and Brandon (Stephen Nichols) before lamenting Tawny Kitaen's lack of chemistry with either of them.

Plus, bizarre pregnancy symptoms, the glory that is Kathleen Wilhoite's Zarabeth and her fringe, bullet hole-riddled Ouija boards and a fun game of "Choose Your Own Deathventure"!
