Horror Dads

The Horror Dads are thrilled to be joined by Screenwriter, Director, Producer, and fellow Horror Dad, Joshua Hull. Most recently, Josh wrote the screenplay for the Shudder film, Glorious, directed by Rebekah McKendry. Whether you are an industry-affiliate, or the everyday film-viewer, Josh is a wealth of knowledge for anyone that follows the horror genre.

Rainy days inspire us to seek comfort - so grab your favorite blanket, and tune in as the Horror Dads dedicate an episode to Rainy Day Horror Films. Whether these are films saturated with rainfall, or are simply movies that we feel compelled to watch during a downpour, the Horror Dads cover 10-films that are must-watches for you during Mother Nature's next squall.

The Horror Dads do a deep dive into a formative decade for the Horror genre - the 1990's.  The mid and late 90's saw a resurgence of popularity in the Horror genre, largely due to Scream, but the Horror Dads take this episode to review the decade as a whole.  This episode focuses on one film from each year of the 90's.  Most fan-favorites and obvious picks are not represented on the list of selections.  However, everything from hidden gems, blockbusters, and cult classics are found throughout the course of discussions as John and Jamie review this critical decade. 

The Horror Dads are joined by their friend and fellow Horror Dad, Mike D’apice, creator of the Whiskey Morgue brand. In addition to being a Horror Dad, Mike’s Whiskey Morgue project has a segment on Rue Morgue TV and produces thoughtful and engaging content on all things horror. The group uses this episode to discuss the inspiration behind Whiskey Morgue, but also spends time discussing the idea of Meta Horror, and the formative films associated with this subgenre. The Horror Dads are joined by Director, Actor and Producer Drew Marvick to discuss Drew's catalog of Horror Films.  John and Jamie get a chance to pick Drew's brain on titles he has directed such as Pool Party Massacre and 13 Slays Till X-Mas, as well as other titles he has been involved with like The Barn 2, Slashlorette Party and Murdercise. The Horror Dads are joined by their new friend Dan Kern of Dirty Gnome Studios. Dan is a sculptor and toy maker with an artistic knack focused on dolls, specifically in the Horror Genre.  After an interview and discussion with Dan about his process related to sculpting and toy making, the group discusses some of the most prominent and terrifying Dolls in Horror films, and the films in which these dolls wreak havoc.
