Horror Dads

Join John and Jamie as they discuss their least favorite installments to some of horror's most prominent franchises. These movies are exceptional...but for what they feel are the wrong reasons. This is a fun one - there are disagreements, bold statements, and some contentious picks - tune in! 

John and Jamie spend some time with their new friend Mateo Baldasare who is a Director, Artist (and generally amazing human-being). As an accomplished short-film Director, Mateo elected to have the group discuss Feature Horror Films that were inspired by Short Films. As the weather warms, John and Jamie prepare for pool season - and nothing pairs with pool season like horror movies. It's Memorial Day weekend, and the Horror Dads do a deep dive into their favorite horror films with pool parties and pool scenes. Grab your sunscreen, favorite snacks and sense of humor. Be prepared to dip your toe in another fun episode.  

John and Jamie take an episode to explore the sub-genre of Body Horror, and bring on creators of the new graphic novel, The Zombie Game.  Emily McGuiness (Editor), and Dan Bridges (Writer), join to lend their expertise on all things body horror, and to discuss their new graphic novel project.

As the air begins to warm up, we all know that films like The Burning, Sleepaway Camp, and the Friday the 13th Franchise begin to work their way into your viewing rotation. John and Jamie dedicate an episode to the characters that make these summer slashers most relatable - the camp counselors. This episode focuses on building the ultimate dream-team of camp counselors, mixing and matching counselors from different horror films and franchises. 

John and Jamie interview actor and star of the film Behind The Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon, Nathan Baesel. Behind The Mask is an all-time favorite of John and Jamie's, and the group discusses Documentary-Style horror films along with details about Nathan's career and his experience in working with this great film. 

John and Jamie are joined by Writer, Director and Actor Ryan Kruger.  The group discusses 1980's horror, and does a deep discussion on Ryan's new and upcoming film, Fried Barry (which will be available on Shudder on May 7th, 2021). Tune in for conversation around video-store nostalgia, 80's inspiration, the film-making process, and as-always, tons of laughs. 

John and Jamie are joined by incredibly talented front-man / singer for the band Careful Gaze.  The group discusses horror-films that are associated with music and or sound production in some way.  Tune-in for some in-depth and honest discussion on horror, life, horror in life, the music scene, and plenty of other interesting topics.  This was a fun one, so don't miss out!  Be sure to check out Careful Gaze.

John and Jamie tackle the subject of Folklore and Urban Legends.  They do a deep discussion of the legends themselves, as well as discuss corresponding horror films that represent those legends.  This is the first installment of this series, and there will be more to come.
