The Gutted

Belinda wants to be a normal girl, but she sure doesn’t feel like one. People tell her she’s sick, even though most of the time she feels fine. She lives with her momma on an acreage outside of town, but momma is always gone, working all hours of the day and night since her daddy left. And school sucks, because all the kids think she’s a weirdo. Thankfully, Belinda lives next door to her best friend Carmen, and they play all the time. And her brother Danny takes great care of her. He would do anything for her, and Belinda loves him all the way to the stars. But something isn’t quite right. Belinda has episodes where she sees and hears things that don’t make sense. Danny says she’s having seizures, and the school nurse thinks it’s puberty. Belinda has to believe them, because they’re adults, and they know better. Right? The Gutted is another of Jae Mazer’s Tales from Ramnon, stories centered around the fictional afterlife of Fort Ramnon, and the creatures that reside there.
