The Portrait

For Maddie DeMaree the nightmare had only just begun when her fiance’ Brae Trahearn pulled up outside the dilapidated French Creole house in Southern Louisiana. What started out as a home improvement project led her down an alley of mystery and intrigue as she tried to discover the secrets of the woman in the large portrait above the fireplace mantel. Meeting colorful characters along the way, Maddie and Brae experience the one and only experience of New Orleans as they learn how their own love could grow stronger despite the past. But will the distant past let them live their lives into the future? Strange things start happening at the house and the couple is taken on a wild ride as the romance from another time bleeds into the current time.

About the Author

What can be said about Laura Ann Sullivan that hasn't already been said? Oh, that's right, nothing has been said yet because she is a first time author. It's a blank sheet of paper, a clean slate, plenty of room to make up lies and create a person who we all want to know and love. She is every color of the rainbow. She can be dark and moody, which is when she writes her poetry tgat never sees the light of day, or quick-witted and funny, but that is usually when she is on a roll. Her attention span is short unless you tell her something that you don't want her to remember, then she never forgets and is quick to remind you. But in all, she is a quiet and private person. She is an observer of life. She takes it all in and catalogues it for future reference. Her writing, you say? True, The Portrait is her first novel, but hardly her first endeavor in writing. She has always had a passion for writing, and a wealth of ideas to pull from. Her brain is nonstop and she sees story potential in everyday life. In fact, she is half way through her second novel and developing a third.
