There are many types of vampyric beings. The most well known take blood to sustain themselves. But there are others hidden among us, others who take something … else. They have acquired the ability to take a person’s life-energy. They call it essence. They have been among us through all of recorded history, and before. They call themselves the Tribe. They have spread themselves throughout the globe. They have sworn never to take blood. Anyone who breaks that law is hunted and eliminated. After one hunter and his pupil save the life of a woman in her late thirties, she is introduced to a darker world filled with vampires, ghouls, demons, and old magic. When they stumble upon a young man named Seth, with a secret past hidden in his dreams, a plot is uncovered within the Tribe that begins with the murder of Seth’s parents and threatens to destroy the entire Tribe, followed by the rest of mankind.
