Flickering rays of light danced in the window of home and buildings; temporarily giving out shadowy glows of light which semi-lit the dark narrow alleyway in which she scurried quickly along on her way to the farm. Abruptly thick fog rushed up from the mighty Mississippi river and shrouded the pathway leaving only shadowy glimpses of building fronts between each thick cloud of mist. Then…there it was…an unnatural outline of a man dressed in the uniform of a soldier leaning calmly against the side of a two-story building. It was not a flesh-and-blood human, that was for sure, for when Lily squinted her eyes, she could almost see right through the being. Unexpectedly it lifted its hand and motioned for her to come close but her legs were frozen to the ground with fear and she had been able to make them move, it would not be to approach the being…it would be to take off running as fast as possible. Then in a low whispery voice the specter murmured calmly… “Come here, Lily-Beth, I have something to give you.” Her blood turned to ice as it raced through her veins and seemed to freeze her poor heart. The only person who EVER called her Lily-Beth was Michael Thorne…and he was dead!
