PIECES is a collection of short stories produced from creative exercises of the Cleveland East Side Writers Group. In one of the exercises, the group would pick a random object such as a rock and a type of story such as Science Fiction. Then, by the next meeting in about 30 days, each author had to come up with a complete story; as short or long as they wanted. One member of the group actually came in with a complete paperback book! Another creative exercise was called Flash Fiction. In this exercise each author picked one or more random photos from a pile, then had 15 minutes to write a complete story, inspired by any thing they saw in those pictures. Like brain storming in an office, it forces you to think fast, and generate ideas you might not normally consider.The stories included here run from 150 word Flash Fictions to 5,000 word short stories, and range from a children's story about a lost bunny to psychic cops and vampires.A little something for everyone. We hope you enjoy it, and maybe it will influence the budding writers out there to visit their community colleges or libraries and find or form a group, too!
