Witchingdale's Snare I

“It was a sea of nothing but squirming and distorted feelers, limbs, and horns; sinewy and hardened carapaces and flesh charred and sloughing off wiry, spindly, and bulky frames. They crawled, skittered, and slithered up the scorched earth, scraping pincers sharply together, scrambling over each other in their frenzy pursuance for above ground, towards the four overlooking it. All the while, at the core of the aberration, was Hell’s burning, destructive eye.” (Witchingdale's Snare I) Once a year, on All Hallows Eve, the barrier that separates the living from the dead thins, allowing spirits to cross over into the living world. In the past, humans believed and would tell tales of horrors spiriting the living away during this time of year. To counteract this, people would dress up as monsters to confuse them, carving and lighting up lanterns to further ward off these evil spirits. Set in the fictitious town of Witchingdale, New York, the townspeople are getting ready for the upcoming Halloween festivities, its' school with its' All Hallows Fiasco party, and in the midst of that, a series of murderous occurrences unfolding. In this first novel of the series, the arrival of a stranger named Bernardo brings a tangled web of deception and downright abhorrent plans, turning the city of Brooklyn into the main dinner course for the hellish hordes, and entangling the sleepy minute town into the fray.
