Mystery Lake

In the summer of 1963, ten-year-old Douglas Xavier received a brand-new bicycle. He was convinced it was the start of the best summer of his life.

He was wrong.

When his friend vanishes while swimming in the dark waters of Mystery Lake, childhood innocence gives way to fear. The adults of Farrington offer logical explanations, but the children know better. There is something wrong with the lake. And when a mysterious stranger comes to town, the children begin to suspect that whatever lives in the water is not alone.

But no one believes them, and the lake keeps its secrets.

Fifteen years later, Douglas returns to Farrington with his new wife, hoping to build a future. But the memories of that summer refuse to stay buried. When a celebrated artist arrives in town, and old patterns begin to repeat, Douglas is forced to confront the truth he’s spent years avoiding.

To find peace, he must uncover what really happened at Mystery Lake and decide whether some secrets should ever be disturbed.
