Céleste is a lonely 14 year old teenager whose mother is in an institution for depression and her clergyman father is either at the music teacher's house, with the whole school being aware of it, or busy with unacceptable - according to her- research on the computer. Her insecurities and unhappiness isolates her from her co-learners at school and she spends breaks alone which makes her an easy target for those involved in occultic practices. Even though she resists she gets drawn in by way of threats that are impossible for her to ignore. The only one she trusts is Dinah, the housekeeper, and perhaps Deon, the police brigadier's son, but she does not really like him because he is not as handsome as Nico Vos, the hero of the school. But is Nico as innocent as he looks?
