GOING ROGUE: Book: II Winter is Here (Ripped Road Series)

PrologueChris unzipped his pants, stood in the ditch, peeing, and looked at the sky. The clouds never look friendly when it gets cold. The snow will be coming soon. Grey and ominous, looking just as alone as he was. The wind moved them along, reminding the clouds they could not stay long. The ground crackled and crunched a little underneath Chris's feet as he shifted his weight left to right. The warm body fluid spilled on the snowy ground, steaming. Chris heard the bang but felt the impact, hitting the ground hard falling forward into his urine.He was curled up like a newborn baby; it felt like someone had just hit him with a hot sledgehammer. The bullet had hit him in the upper stomach. Who the fuck shot him? Then the pain and adrenaline came to him, reminding him all was not lost yet; you might live. Chis pulled out his Glock, out of muscle memory, and rolled, staring at the sky again. The clouds were laughing at him now. The devil was laughing at him. He curled his legs up to his chest, screaming in anger. The body armor vest smoked slightly from the round stuck in it. The clouds told him he was coming. Chris slid his hand under his body armor and felt blood, but his hand was now wet with urine or the frosty ground. A crunching sound was approaching from over the ditch. It was coming to finish you. Who cares? You are fucked anyway. Chris scratched at his chest inside the body armor, like that would fix the burn. You can’t breathe because you will die, the clouds told him. The darkness accidentally met the light. The crunching steps were coming closer now. Chris zipped up his pants, still dripping, holding his gun. If he was not going to live, nobody is today.
