The Cough: A Novella

Rural England: 1904 Bricked up in a long forgotten cellar of 18th century manor house, Wakeley Hall, something is waiting. For introverted carpenter, William Corliss, the accidental discovery of what lies behind that wall brings with it more than a terrible shock. The dust and foul air that billow from the broken wall infect Mr Corliss with a dreadful cough: a cough that carries with it a strange, ghostly presence that he cannot escape. And with each cough it gets closer. Haunted, tormented and desperately ill, Mr Corliss must confront the horrors of the past to free himself from a vengeful spectre’s suffocating and tightening grip. THE COUGH is a tense Gothic ghost story that will leave you gasping. (Length: 40,000 words)
