Strega: The Witch

The novel is set in southern Italy, in a little town called Pietrelcina, in the periphery of the city of Beneventum. The time is circa 1550 A.D. A 16 year old girl named Valentina grows up in the shadow of medieval Catholicism and the oppression of women and, black sheep in her family, she does something so rebellious and taboo that changes the life of many in the little town. Valentina goes to live in the woods and discovers her Witchcraft within and without her. Supported by her amazing maternal grandmother, also a witch, she grows into wondrous events, including falling in love.
