Boneyard: Volume 6 (6)

Abbey must attend the Luminary’s Ball, a posh affair where a good impression with the Illuminary, head of all fantastic creatures, is crucial. But heading with Michael into her private meeting, arch-rival Lilith slips her a mickey that makes her act uncontrollably badly! Collects issues 21-24.

From Booklist

After a couple of excellent story arcs (Boneyard, v.4, 2006, and v.5, 2006), Moore’s sexy graveyard sitcom-cum-soaper rests on its laurels in this rather snoozy arc about vampire-heroine Abbey roping cemetery owner Michael Paris into squiring her to the Illuminary’s Ball, a gathering of invited supernaturals from throughout the universe. The should-be-fun event isn’t entirely, for it’s also the occasion for certain invitees’ performance reviews. Abbey is slated for the hot seat this time, and archrival Lilith spikes her drink but good. Drawn out it may be, but it’s also drawn cute, as usual. Series fans, if not many others, will indulge it. --Ray Olson
