About the Author

Mildred Wirt (July 10, 1905 - May 28, 2002) was an author of children's books. She most famously wrote several of the books in the Nancy Drew series as a ghostwriter, under the name Carolyn Keene. Born in Iowa, Wirt was a journalist by trade for 58 year, until her death in Ohio at the age of 96.
