"According to legend, the Lai Thai is a jealous and vengeful female spirit - the ghost of a sexually insatiable, adulterous, cruel woman in life who is now crueler and more selfish in death. She roams the earth as a malevolent spirit - haunting the dreams of male villagers at night - always looking for another husband to take with her into the grave. It’s said that when she finds a man she’s attracted to - this succubus of sorts enters his dreams - a sexual Freddy Krueger who seduces him while he’s asleep, and then convinces his soul to follow her into the afterlife… leaving his body vacant and dead."

The legend of the Lai Tai (or Lai Thai) is one that will make you nervous to go to sleep at night, if you happen to be a young Thai man. This spirit sweeps through villages in Thailand, capturing the lives of men. Could you be next? Dan tells us all about the Lai Tai this week as a little warm up story. Then he brings us to McCook, Nebraska for the The Tale of the ghost of Devil's Canyon. When two friends embark on a day trip and one friend is really into exploring the paranormal, while the other friend tries to keep them safe, what could possibly go wrong when the creeper friend takes the reins? This is a classic campfire tale and Dan really brings you all of the chills with this one.

Lynze has a heavy story to start with. The story is sad, spooky, and uplifting, all at once. The ghost of the former owner of a home seems unable to leave. But perhaps, she has good reason to stick around. Is she there to haunt or to protect? And then, we are on a secret military mission in Yemen. In an already intense situation, could it possibly get any scarier than having your commander in charge start to unravel, to call out in words in a language they can't possibly know? Hear what happens to a team of special op's soldiers when then encounter the unknown.

This week feels like Dan really went for it, hard. One incredibly terrifying tale of poltergeist activity and one tale that will just leave you scratching your head. Oddly, both stories end with the subject(s) of the story seemingly disappearing! How bizarre!

Lynze also has some very fun stories this week. She has back to back stories in the south. One in Savannah on an old plantation, a haunted house with a dark past and one in North Carolina, of recent times.

"C whirled around, momentarily picking his eyes up from the floor, and he found himself staring straight into the mirror. And directly BEHIND him, he saw a dead man.

A dead man who was weirdly blurry around the edges.

As C watched, frozen and horrified, blood began to pour out of a hole in the man’s chest, spattering the floor, the walls, and even against C’s clothes"

Our first tale is about The Hammersmith Ghost Murder Case! Starting in November 1803, the British citizens of Hammersmith were worried about the typical concerns of daily life we all still worry about - money, health, taxes, family squabbles, neighborhood crime, etc.They were also worried about something not of this world.They worried that something paranormal was going to attack them like it had allegedly already attacked some of their neighbors.

Now, in our second story, we explore the lore of other cultures. Every culture in the world has its own unique spin on the supernatural. Every religion has their own demons - or demonic equivalents - including Hinduism. From what we understand, the Hindu religion teaches and warns about three primary groups of evil entities. First the Bhuts [ boots ] also sometimes called bhutas [boo tuhs]. The Bhuts are supernatural creatures - often called ghosts. Usually they are described as being the sprit of a deceased person, often considered to be perturbed and restless due to some factor that prevents the spirit from moving on.Next there are Pretas [ prey-tuhs ] - eternally hungry, zombie-like entities. They are the wandering, tortured souls of those who were false, corrupted, compulsive, deceitful, jealous or greedy in life.These dark entities wander the earth at all times, generally unable to be seen. Always miserable. Always looking to feed.And then there are the Pishachas [ pee shakas]. The worst of the dark spirits. What happens when one encounters a Pishacha?

Closing out the show, we have two tales, both which feel unbelievable. A story of possible alien abduction and a loss of time and as story about how psychics might have more power than we want to believe.

"Take my hand, Kira. You don’t want to make me mad do you? I’ve waited too long already” “Please,” Kira whispered, frozen in place, “you’re scaring me.”
“I know,” said the man, flashing a predator’s toothy grin - “That’s why you come here, right? To be scared? Being scared is fun. That’s why you all went on the rides! But you didn’t go on mine. And no one can scare you like I can, Kira? Nothing will scare you like what I can SHOW you? Once you SEE what can BE - NOTHING ELSE WILL MATTER.”

Dan knocks it out of the park with not one but two amazingly haunting tales. He begins with the tale of the man for Taured. This story explores the concepts of the multiverse, an idea explored by many people. Could it be possible that our lives as we know them are only iteration of our lives? What would you do if everything you knew to be true, to be fact, was taken away from you? It's such a bizarre concept to dig into a new topic for some big creep factor on Scared To Death. It's Dan's second story that throws Lynze into a tizzy. Have you ever been in an amusement park and felt yourself overcome with fear of being lost? Or worse, being kidnapped? This story has so many layers of scares, there is no way you listen to it and get a good nights rest.

Lynze brings three stories this week for a smattering of shadow people tales. Which of the three is the most horrifying? Probably the first tale. The story might be short and sweet but the photograph as the end is haunting. Story two and three don't necessarily pack in a ton of spoops but they will make you question what shadow people are, why they might be here and how their world works.

"The mysterious man now noticed their headlights and turned to face them.
He was hunched over, collar up, shielding himself from the rain. It looked like he was wearing some kind of long, shabby black coat.While continuing to stare at them, he took a few steps forward, and Sarah flinched back into her seat.Something was off.
Who was this guy? No normal person would be standing on the overlook at this time of night, would they? Where was his car?"

Dan has two truly creeptastic tales for you this week! He starts off with a bizarre and deadly plane crash that ends with the pilot going missing. But what if he isn't really missing, well, not really? Rumor has it that the ghost of Larry Stevens continues to haunt highway 107 in Greenville, South Carolina. It's entirely possible that a young couple not only saw him but gave him a ride, one dark and stormy night.

Keeping the spoops going, Dan takes us up to Canada for tale of the possibly haunted school, Humber Heights Consolidated. The school had been used to house the dead after a hurricane struck the town in 1954. All of these years later, it would appear that some of those who were stored in the temporary morgue never did move on. Hear the tale of a Canadian law officer and his not one but two creepy experiences at Humber Heights!

Do you remember the myth of bloody mary? Well, Lynze is ready to give you a refresher. She shares the story of two brothers who manage to conjure up something, in the dark, in the bathroom. Is it bloody mary? or is it someone else? And then we hear the tale of a family, an entire family, who seems to be haunted. No matter where they go, it would seem they are always surrounded by haunting moments.

"A strange and satisfied smile then appeared on his face and he asked, “Did you play with Masha?” He paused and then added, “Maybe she’s bored.” At that moment, the familiar sound of Masha’s music box rang through their home and Elvira jumped up in fear. Yuri also seemed afraid and he too stared at the doll in disbelief.

Anatoly was unfazed. He was smiling now. “See…” he said calmly, “she’s just bored.” He then went over to the sofa to sit by the doll while his father held his trembling mother in his arms."

Dan has two very odd and interesting stories this week! He starts off with the tale of The Dorothea Puente Murder House. This story is similar to a lot of the haunted tales that begin with murders we’ve told, but maybe scarier than most because while it’s typically the VICTIM or the VICTIMS of the murder that haunt a dwelling, in this tale, there’s seem to be some pretty good evidence that the killer that once roamed the rooms of the Dorothea Puente Murder House taking lives, may still be there today, possibly still taking lives. Then for story two, Dan covers some new ground by taking us to Russia for the creepiest doll story you have ever heard. It's disturbing on so many levels. We can't give to much away here so tune in to find out why the dolls are so very creepy!

Lynze balances out the second half of the show with three tales, all with the theme of children. Children seeing things, hearing things, protecting themselves from things. In each of the tales she tells today, there is an element of spoop that takes it to the next level!

"And then soon, they went from concerned to outright scared when Kristine walked into the kitchen one day to see Natalia pouring Pine-Sol into Kristine’s coffee.

Kristine says she ran over and stopped her immediately, hoping, praying, that Natalia was just messing around.

But then when she asked Natalia what she was doing, she said that Natalia replied, “I’m trying to kill you.” "

Dan takes us down a strange and peculiar story hole this week. His two stories are a bit off the beaten path. He starts with the story of a family who adopts a Ukrainian girl only to find out, she might not be who or what she claims to be. A lot of people have drawn a comparison between this story and the movie, "The Orphan". The movie existed before this strange occurrence, so who knows if the family was overreacting because they had seen the movie or if they were inspired to eliminate a threat to their family, quickly, because of the movie. The second story from Dan takes us to Pyramid Lake for some really peculiar details. From giant fish to water babies, Pyramid Lake seems to have some very interesting things living, or not so living, just under the water.

Carrying on the theme of the strange and unexplained, Lynze has two juicy tales. The first one is of a haunted house. Perhaps the house didn't need to feel creepy, it could have been a kind spirit but it all took a turn for the south with a simple touch. Did this family accidentally invite something in when they began a remodel? You will think twice about painting your room after this one! In her second story, Lynze has a good old fashioned tale of the monster under the bed. Everyone has felt that kind of fear as a child but what would you do if you actually saw it? A listener has a really hard time ever sleeping again...

"But then a week later, Remy fell into another trance. And she started speaking to her husband in that same foreign voice - a voice that was angry this time... And then this voice gave him the names — AND the phone numbers — of four different people Teresita knew who could identify this jewelry as belonging to Teresita. And then the voice, after urging him again to PLEASE contact the authorities - it went away again. His wife snapped out of her trance. "

It's a bizarre episode of Scared to Death! Dan has two rather interesting stories that walk the fine line between true crime (which they are, for sure) and paranormal (which they might be, who knows?!). Dan kicks off the show with a very well documented death of Cindy Elizabeth Hack James. It's a topsy turvy twister. Cindy is a women who someone wants dead, but whom, or what, is after her? For SEVEN years, Cindy is harassed, attacked, stalked and eventually killed. But who is the killer?

Then, in the second story of the show, Dan is certain he has evidence of the paranormal and after life. When a middle aged woman is found dead in her apartment, with no signs of forced entry and no enemies to speak of, it's just the beginning of the most bizarre murder mystery. Teresita was a popular and well liked woman, so when she turned up dead, the questions began swirling. Police would never have predicted just how they would solve this case. It would appear that Teresita was uninterested in finding eternal rest, until she brought her killer to justice, even from beyond the grave. This singular tale has Lynze somewhat excited for what might exist, beyond this world.

Lynze also some very unique and spooky tales for her half of the show. In story one, we are off to Columbia to hear the tale of a son who is deeply concerned for his father and the dark forces that seem to be at play in his life, both in the world and beyond. Is Oscar's Dad in trouble with money, women or the devil? Something bizarre sure is swirling around Oscar's Dad and if he isn't careful, it might also consume Oscar. Then, in story two, Lynze leaves it up to you to decide if this tale is a case of sleep paralysis or if it's something else entirely.

"Then, as he backed up a step, he saw the top of Victor’s head crane up towards the ceiling, and he heard Victor say, “Hey, were there always chairs on the ceiling?” Andrew’s blood ran cold. The ceiling? What the Hell was he talking about?"

Can a house come alive and lure you in? And try to make you stay? In Dan's opening episode story, he tells the tale of two childhood friends, Andrew and Victor. The pair begin work on a very old, Victorian house and the odd occurrences start from the moment they enter the house. What is happening in this house remains a mystery... until the very end. Then it's off to France for the story of the Green Lady of the Château de Brissac. While visiting the ancient chateau, various accounts of a woman in green have been reported. Sometimes she simply floats down the hall. When she looks up at you, her face isn't quite right. Why is that? Tune in to find out just what happened to this woman.

Lynze goes back to the basics with a fan story about the Hat Man. In her first story, fan Mike tells his tale of how the Hat Man has been following him for 20+ years. Mike seems to have invited him in when he was just a teenager. It all started with a scrying mirror. If you weren't afraid of playing with mirrors before, you might be now. Then, for her second story, Lynze will have you traveling from Hawaii to Kentucky. A young couple with their sweet daughter move into a home in Kentucky after her Dad was transferred there. The moments of the house revealing its hauntedness come in waves and cause the family to GTFO. Then, for a little bit of fan fiction! Young fan, Trey, sent in an original work. Check it out!

"He crawled up on top of where she lay. He sat down on her chest and stared into her eyes. And she could now see he wasn’t a little boy at all. He was something… else. Something dark and dead - a ghost of some kind. A monster. She actually told mom she thought he was a monster. And this little monster placed his hand on her chest this time, just below her neck and she felt the cold again. Colder than before. And she felt the fear. It was heavier than before."

Dan brings a whole new kind of terror to his first story this week. What seems like your typical story of an older person starting to forget things and misplace things leads to a horrifying reality of no one believing an elderly woman about the "bad little boy" she keeps seeing. He comes to her, when she is in bed and alone, in the middle of the night. He whispers to her. He wants to take her. No one believes her and her nightmare takes a deadly turn. For story number two, Dan takes us to Cumae Archaeological Park, into dark tunnels. There are many mysteries and legends surrounding Cumae. When two young, broke college kids embark on a journey into the hidden parts of Cumae, they believe they are in the trusting hands of their tour guide. However, their tour guide has something very different in mind; he is looking for a different kind of gratuity for his hard work.

Lynze opens her half of the show with a not so scary tale but a tale that makes you ask lots of questions, none the less. Reincarnation. Do you believe that we can come back to this world, even after we leave it? A sweet little boy seems to know far too much about things he couldn't know. His family is confused by the knowledge he possesses but they aren't scared. They are hopeful that this youngster is just a former family member. Then, in story two, Lynze takes us on a wild, wild haunted house ride. You will, for sure, need to suspend your rational self to accept this as reality. The fan who wrote in acknowledges that the tale sounds tall but he insists that it is 100%. And like they always say, only one story has to be true to open the possibility of all of them being true.
