Dear David is a 2023 American supernatural horror film directed by John McPhail, based on Adam Ellis' Twitter thread of the same name. It stars Augustus Prew as Ellis with Andrea Bang, René Escobar Jr., Cameron Nicoll, and Justin Long in supporting roles. The film is the third co-production between BuzzFeed Studios and Lionsgate Films. It follows Ellis (Prew) who is haunted by the spirit of a boy at the mercy of demons after retaliating against trolls.The film was released in theaters and to streaming and digital formats on October 13, 2023, by Lionsgate. It received mostly scathing reviews from critics, deriding its lack of originality and shock value; some reviewers preferred the original Twitter thread over the film.

While exploring a sacred cave in the hills of Malibu California, the team encounters chilling paranormal occurrences. As they analyze footage from the missing teens' camera, they make a terrifying discovery involving an ancient curse which forces them to confront their own worst fears and unravel the sinister truth behind the boys' vanishing.
ABOUT SCOTT SLONE:Scott Slone is an award-winning American Filmmaker born in Missoula, Montana and has lived in Missouri, Maryland, South Carolina and Florida before moving to Los Angeles in 2001. A year later, Scott wrote and directed his first short film entitled, Old Man Music. The film starred legendary character actor Geoffrey Lewis and went on to win multiple awards in the festival circuit. Since then, Scott has written and directed multiple short films as well as the documentary 2001: An EDM Odyssey. Malibu Horror Story is Slone's feature film debut.
