First up, the gang signs off on the new trailer to the upcoming IT! We dabble in a bit of TV talk with BATES MOTEL, THE WALKING DEAD, THE MAGICIANS and BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER. Bekah also saw THE DEVIL'S CANDY and the 1952 feature DON'T BOTHER TO KNOCK featuring a young Marilyn Monroe. Elric and Ryan duke it out over their thoughts on LIFE. Elric also checked out PREVENGE, BLOODY LAKE and PERSONAL SHOPPER. Ryan's recommends the upcoming M.F.A. Rob watched some W.T.F. films including NEVER TOO YOUNG TO DIE, BLOODY MOON, BAD TASTE, DRILLER KILLER and C.H.U.D. Then we turn the topic of discussion to the work and world of Clive Barker with very special guests Mark Alan Miller and Ben Meares! Mark is the Vice President of Seraphim, and Ben is the editor and one of the main writers behind the upcoming HELLRAISER ANTHOLOGY: VOLUME ONE graphic novel. (Shock Waves own Bekah McKendry co-wrote one of the stories with her husband Dave!) We learn about the day to day operation over at Seraphim, the unusual creative process of Clive Barker and what of his properties is being adapted for other mediums. We each get to share our stories of first discovering Clive's work, personal encounters with him at conventions, favorite material and where we'd each like to see a HELLRAISER story set. This week on Shock Waves, it's just Ryan Turek and Rob Galluzzo as they discuss the latest horrors! First, the duo brings us up to speed on the new Shock Waves merchandise from Cavity Colors, an update on the upcoming Texas Frightmare convention, and then we pay tribute to the late, great Bernie Wrightson. Ryan caught a double bill of KILLER KLOWNS FROM OUTER SPACE and THE FUNHOUSE, and also recommends to keep an eye out for TRAGEDY GIRLS. Rob went to the other side with POLTERGEIST 3D and Scream Factory's new FIRESTARTER disc. Elric checks in from home to report back on THE BELKO EXPERIMENT, THE DEVIL'S CANDY and CREEPY. Then we welcome special guests Scott Reynolds (DEXTER, THE FOLLOWING, JESSICA JONES, IRON FIST) and Daniel Budnik (EVENTUALLY SUPERTRAIN, BLEEDING SKULL) to talk about "double features!" Most of the great friendships revolve around sharing double features with each other, so we discuss the ones we've hosted, the one's we've attended, the most memorable theatrical ones, and franchise double bills! But first, a discussion on the KING KONG franchise, spurred by the latest film KONG: SKULL ISLAND, and then the latest horrors! Ryan revisited the '89 Robert Englund fronted PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, the original VILLAGE OF THE DAMNED, THE GATE, and EVIL DEAD II in honor of its 30th anniversary. Bekah checked out THE LORE, SUGAR HILL and GOD'S LEFT HAND DEVIL'S RIGHT HAND. Elric watched ALWAYS SHINE on Shudder, the 1988 feature PULSE, and EVILSPEAK. Rob gives an early tease of Bryan Fuller's upcoming Starz series AMERICAN GODS. Then we talk horror anthologies! Darin Scott produced two well regarding horror anthologies, FROM A WHISPER TO A SCREAM and TALES FROM THE HOOD, which hits Blu-Ray from Scream Factory on April 18th. We figured he'd be the perfect co-host to tackle this assignment with. Each of us were instructed to pick our 5 favorite segments, wrap-around optional, and put them together to build what we'd each consider our perfect horror anthology. What were the results?
