A carriage ride in the Victorian era ends in tragedy for the prominent Langley family. When their carriage overturns, three-year-old Leticia is dragged by horses and scarred for life. Wearing a porcelain mask from then on to conceal her facial scars, her nickname “Little Doll” becomes cruelly ironic. She is bullied and taunted. Her only solace is a huge dollhouse, her companion and best friend Willie (son of the maid servant), and an unlikely creature who is also shunned by society. Unable to tolerate her social situation any longer, Leticia's rage reaches a boiling point, bringing to her aid some unlikely allies.
