Persephone's Promise

Damn my stupid husband for dying! Damn stupid Hades and his equally stupid wife! And damn Gregory, son of those gods, for making me feel this way! Damn his stupidly handsome and scholarly face with those dimples, those vivid green eyes that make my heart leap from my chest, those gracefully long fingers that stroke my cheek with so much tender emotion that it makes my gut clench in need, and that damn wicked grin on his stupid face! No! No, I won’t give him any more of my attention. I have to focus on my task. Finding Persephone‘s lost string of rubies. The fabled pomegranate seeds that were said to curse her to six months of imprisonment in the underworld. Rubies that are said to hold enough power within them to destroy the world. Why, you might ask? Because my husband got himself killed and, because I’m pregnant, I can’t work any death magics at the scale of resurrection. So because my stupid husband got struck by a fuck ton of lightning, I am now subject to Persephone‘s retrieval quest. Only now my job is ten times harder because she doesn’t remember when or where she lost the damn things. And I have a deadline. Find the rubies before they welcome a new goddess onto the Council, and I’ll be rewarded with the revival of my husband. One would argue that this is the perfect Challenge a god could have given me to get my husband back, but honestly I’m too pissed that he died in the first place to care.
