It’s 1986 and Doug, Boo, Burns, and Mike have started their junior year in high school like they started all the others: looking for a party, pining for sex, and rehearsing with their garage band, the Splattercats. When Mike is invited to a party by one of the “beautiful people'' he is beaten to death while waiting for a ride that never shows up. The rest of the guys see the guy who invited him elsewhere, so it leads them to wonder who killed their friend. Over the next few months, more friends and acquaintances die violently. The crimes are believed to be unrelated, but a mysterious group seems to be targeting the young people of little ol’ Pineboro, N.C. Are Doug and his friends the real target? Will their little band survive the school year? Dripping with nostalgia, dark humor and bloody violence, Redneck Road is part homage to the slashers of the 80s, but it also takes widely used tropes and turns them on their ear.
