About the Author

Michael Callahan is an author, playwright, composer, ac-tor/singer and photographer. His words have been published by the Philadelphia Inquirer, River Cities Reader, Quad City Times, and Dark Highlands Anthology #1. His words have also been performed at New Ground Theatre (Davenport, IA) and at Augustana College (Rock Island, IL) as part of the Quad Cities Playwright's Festival. Mr. Callahan is also a professional performer who ranges from opera to dinner mystery theater. Michael Callahan's photos hang in Singing Bird Lodge at Black Hawk State Historic site and have won Best in Show at the Rock Island County Fair. Michael spends time, as well, being the music director at The Davenport Chordbusters and, for more than ten years, at Bethel Wesley United Methodist Church in Moline, IL. On almost every Sunday he can be found singing there, accompanied by his wife on organ and his four children on various (mostly percussion) instruments. He feels that he would be remiss if he didn't also mention his 6 bunnies, 5 pet chickens, cat and dog for their part in the creative process. Paul-Thomas Ferguson is an archivist, professor, historian, poet, playwright, singer-songwriter, and novelist. He holds a Ph.D. in U.S., Urban, and Middle Eastern History and an M.A. in Medieval History from Marquette University, and a B.A. in European History from Western Illinois University. His published and produced works include Leisure Pursuits in Ethnic Milwaukee, 1830-1930, the historical novel A Life in Chiaroscuro, fictional history The Ports and Portals of the Zelaznids, The Scottish Play: A Travesty! (with Trace Davis and Jeremy Koester), freak-folk CD One Cool Cat (with the band Cthulhu Ferguson), and several short stories. He lives in Illinois with his wife, his son, and two too many cats. David James Keaton's work has appeared in over fifty publications, including Noir At The Bar, Chicago Quarterly Review, and Needle, and his fiction has been nominated for several awards, including the Pushcart Prize. He won a 2012 Best Short Story on the Web Spinetingler Award for his story in Crime Factory #8, and his contribution to Plots With Guns #10 was named a Notable Story of 2010 by storySouth's Million Writer's Award. He is also the founder and Editor-in-Chief of Flywheel Magazine. His collection FISH BITES COP! Stories To Bash Authorities will be released by Comet Press in 2013.
