At first glance, the town of Stegasaurus is a peaceful place nestled in an isolated region. But something sinister lies beneath its placid appearance making it a virtual battleground between good and evil. The town is full of spirits and ghosts, in-laws and outlaws, the old establishment versus outsiders, and a disturbing past in conflict with mid-1970s ideals. It is into this setting that a spirit named Xyron incarnates into a young man named Rick Carter in order to be close to his spiritual counterpart in her present incarnation. As Regan Marston, however, Dasha has no idea about her spiritual history. She is an English teacher who is married to Isaac Marston and the mother of two eight-year-old Harley, who encounters difficulties with the town bully and his nasty cousin, and thirteen-year-old Meg, whose outspoken belligerence and outrageous antics often defy comprehension. As a spirit and incarnate, Rick Carter battles an outrageous host of forces, including a bumbling school superintendent named Elmo Bumpkiss Binkie, Binkie's bratty daughter Clara, a ghost named Hiram Polecat, Hiram's malicious relatives and descendants, and finally, Margaret Ruth Marston (Meg), who challenges him from the beginning.
