Something is very wrong at The Promethean, New York's newest and most exclusive address, home to some of the country's biggest celebrities. Exceedingly nasty things are happening. Malevolent ghosts? Marauding aliens? Demonic possession? Something even stranger? Whatever it is, the residents are dying in horrible ways. Soon the media is calling the place Freak House, and everyone wants to know what is going on. Gibbs, a newspaper reporter and Ellie Skye, a paranormal investigator especially want to know, convinced that the answer lies in the little patch of history the building is sitting on. Lives are on the line, and even reputations! Seldom has horror been so amusingly described. Set at the end of the second second-Bush Administration, when it often seemed that the country had slipped through an inter-dimensional chink into a real-life horror show, Freak House is a trenchant send-up of a time when crazy was in fashion.
