About the Author

STEPHEN VOLK is best known as the writer of the BBC s notorious Hallowe en hoax Ghostwatch and the award-winning ITV drama series Afterlife. His other screenplays include 2011 s The Awakening, Ken Russell's Gothic, The Guardian (co-written with William Friedkin), and Midwinter of the Spirit. His novellas and short stories have been selected for Year s Best Fantasy and Horror, Best New Horror, Best British Mysteries, and Best British Horror, he has been a Bram Stoker Award and Shirley Jackson Award finalist, a BAFTA winner, and is the author of three collections: Dark Corners, Monsters in the Heart (which won the British Fantasy Award in 2014), and The Parts We Play.
