Death Rides A Dark Horse is second in a series of mysteries with Diamond Dust as a private investigator and the lead character. The scenes take place largely in the fictitious town of Envious, Tennessee. A woman is charged with the killing of her third husband, the coroner citing arsenic poisoning. Her attorney, Jackson Carter, hired Diamond, Di for short, to interview her and find the details of her case. Di begins investigating and discovers a world of generational sex abuse and murder, all amid horse farming and her own family's preparations for Halloween. As if this isn't enough, Di's house may be haunted and the spirits are restless, to say the least. Di does discover the truth, in spite of danger to her own life.
