About the Author

So who is T.J Birkenmeier? And who cares? Some folks have asked for more information than just my name so here goes! I am the "Entrepreneurs Marketing Coach," a 43-year veteran of The Advertising Wars. I began my career in 1967 at age 19 at Ralston Purina in the age of MAD MEN. After I left Checkerboard Square, I went into the advertising agency business. In the subsequent years, I was lucky enough to have had a few milestones. J. Mark Lashly and I developed the first McDonald's Children's Meal with Dick Brahms and won a Steuben Crystal Bowl' called The McDonald's Children's Marketing Award and McDonald's founder Ray Kroc presented it. Over the course of my career, I helped introduce AstroTurf for Monsanto, created advertising campaigns for Korbel Champagne and Bols Liqueurs. I worked on many marketing projects for Jack Daniels, 7UP, KRAFT, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, General American Life Insurance, True Treadmills and created marketing programs for scores of entrepreneurial businesses including leading St. Louis firms like Schnucks Markets, Plaza Motors, Enterprise Bank and Trust, VOLPI, Affton Trucking and Trabue Industrial Systems.
