Darius is not a good man. In fact, he is not a man at all. He was born in the outskirts of the Dark Lands, in the province of Akahai where the Vampire Queen Bathory Von Raknar rules with an iron fist. Darius spent is childhood in the same house in which he was born, in the oppressive Gloom that mutes the sun and plunges the whole of the Dark Lands in eternal twilight. He is content living with his family, until one day the Paladins of the Order of Light arrives to purify the border settlements. That fateful day marks the beginning of Darius' quest to reap vengeance from the screaming throats of the High Priests that ordered the death of his family. He is saved by the Vampire Queen Bathory and inducted into her service to be moulded into the perfect warrior of Darkness. Destined to become one of her Death Knights, Darius and his fellow Chosen battle to earn the privilege to Ascend. But Darius have high ambitions. He will not be content to be just a Death Knight. He sets his sights higher. Much higher. He must become one of the powerful Vampire Lords if he is to ever bring the full undead might to bear on the hated Bright Lands, but the road to Vampirism is long and frought with pain and death, and the road to vengeance may claim whatever remains of his humanity.
