Oblivion (The Magician Book 1)

On the 22nd of January 1899, Georges Steil, a travelling street magician and escapologist, is warned by his estranged cultist brother, Albert, that the turn of the century will be the worst day in mankind’s history. He learns that 1000 million people will die in a genocide beyond anyone’s imagination. In Albert’s mind, the alternative is unbearable: experience 100 years of disease, war, misery and chaos from which mankind would never recover. Besides, Albert justifies, those that survive will witness an age of renewal that will usher in prosperity and greatness. Sacrifice two-thirds of the world’s population so the remaining one-third can achieve possible Utopia? For Georges, the price is too high. He appoints himself the unlikely protector of the future. In a race against time, he joins forces with his ex-lover, Thea Poulou, and others in an attempt to thwart his blood brother’s plan. And restore mankind’s fate into its own hands.
