Before The Flame: A White Road Tale

All Dean Gardner wanted was a few days of camping with some friends out along scenic Green River. But when his little sister, Anna, and her two friends, are foisted upon him, the trip becomes a chore. Anna brings with her the superstition of a local, urban legend. Wishes made before the flame in these cursed woods... But they aren't the only ones out there aware of the legend. And under the dark canopy of the Forbush Sanctuary, those wishes come to terrible life, forever altering the young lives of seven teenagers. In the remote township of New Ashford, tucked away in the northwest corner of Massachusetts, there exists an insignificant, nondescript road. White Road. As the short trail ends at the wall of trees marking the eastern edges of the Forbush Wildlife Sanctuary, a hidden path stretches deeper into the heart of the forest. Natives know this as the real White Road... Bracketed by watchful birch, an entity pervades this land. Whether lost, banished or here with a purpose, this entity thrives on the chaos and misfortune of man. Its origin, shrouded in mystery, is only outdone by the uncertainty of its agenda. Each White Road Tale chronicles a macabre chapter in its long existence. Some review the past, some portray events happening right now, under the attendance of both the birch and our fellow man. Others still depict tales of things yet to come...
