This is not your usual ghost story. The Afterlife of Marlis and Rosemary is a ghost story wrapped in another ghost story - heavily inspired by real life events. It begins with a girl named Marlis who decides to check out of life. After pulling the trigger, Marlis finds she is still in her apartment - now stuck there as a ghost. But why? That's something she would need to find out. However, getting out of her residence wouldn't be the only problem Marlis would need to overcome. She would now be forced to deal with the new occupants who have moved into her home, as well as the previously unseen entities that had been there for quite some time - entities waiting to meet her - some waiting to get her. However, it would be her own thoughts and emotions - the ones that got her in this situation in the first place - that would challenge her most. Marlis' story unfolds into a second ghost story that is told in the Afterwords section of the book. It is separated into two parts. The first part tells of real life paranormal events, and brings up the questions: Is there life after death? What happens to our beloved pets when they die - will we see them again? Are there unseen entities living with us? And, is the energy generated by our emotions powerful enough to create monsters? The second part of the Afterwords section displays photos that I think you will find interesting - proof there is life after death. It may be tempting to skip to the end, but you will get the full impact if you start from the beginning. The Afterlife of Marlis and Rosemary is a worthwhile story written for ease of reading, punctuated with nature's poetry, and flecked with "magic." It will string you along with suspense, and prompt you to question reality. Hopefully, it will also get you to challenge old beliefs, ponder the psychic and paranormal climate change happening more frequently, and perhaps make you want to hug your pet(s). Whatever you may take away from this story, I hope you will enjoy reading The Afterlife of Marlis and Rosemary.
