Anton always had poor luck. He wasn't very smart or strong, got bullied in school, and was raised by his deadbeat dad. Then the ships appeared, and things got worse. Monsters, demons, and aberrations invaded his world and killed everyone. He and the rest of humanity awoke in a dark place, stuck in small demonic spider bodies. That's a few hundred years ago now, and everyone has either given up or disappeared, presumably after escaping—everyone, except for Anton. Mindlessly, he continues, trying to find his way through the levels of hell, hoping to one day escape from the boredom and company forced on him.
