Lingerie Shop 5 - The Murder Mystery (The Lingerie Shop)

Katya persuades Peter to accompany her on a Murder Mystery Weekend, but things don't quite turn out how they imagined.Book 5 of The Lingerie Shop series of short storiesA dark, romantic fantasycopyright © 2013 Trisha Miller. The Murder MysteryPeter Helsen was still in love. He sat opposite her at breakfast, declined the full English, hardly noticed his smoked salmon and sat looking at her dark eyes and her lovely face all the while. Katya had a past, yes, but if you’re in love that really doesn’t matter and anyway they had made love and it hadn’t changed things a bit and now he was more madly in love than ever, so it obviously wasn’t just lust. Not that he had noticed any fault in her, unless being too passionate was a fault, although it was all a bit overwhelming, even scary at times, and last night’s lovemaking had been a bit obsessive, even ritualistic. He seemed to awaken something primitive in her. Nevertheless, their final moments of lovemaking had been torridly delicious. Though she did seem rather nervous about going back and then there were those strange people that seemed to be following her. She seemed blissfully happy, kissed him when he woke and clung to his arm before breakfast, well at least till he mentioned the strange people. That seemed to ruin everything. She grew deadly serious and asked him to describe them and even made him tell her everything the blonde and the silent man had said when they had interrogated him at work. “What’s wrong, who are these people?” he asked, as they left the small country inn together. “People I used to know: they really aren’t nice,” she said, but her attention was caught by a poster in the bar. “A murder mystery weekend! That sounds like fun,” she laughed, and it was to start that night, so if it wasn’t too much trouble. So of course he said yes, despite it being in the middle of nowhere and all. After all Cornwall was another county, but it wasn’t that far and they might make it by late afternoon, allowing a stop for lunch. As he drove through the misty lanes of Dartmoor, she brightened and seemed to have forgotten all about the strange people. In Cornwall they took lunch at a little pub and snuggled up together in a nook by the fire. He put his hand in hers. “I do love you,” he said.
