For more than a thousand years the lands of the Aonraithe have been a haven of peace, with the enigmatic draoithe watching over the inhabitants from the central city of Umbreanth. Beneath their protection, Aonraithe and Nasc alike have flourished and prospered. Now unknown enemies have found a way around this aegis, and an uncertain change lies ahead. Between the high desert plateau of the Aonraithe and the plains far below, there is a city. The city of Xeranth has stood for many years atop a wall of towering cliffs, both as a fortress against invasion and as a gateway for trade and travel. Now an evil gathers strength here, beyond the reach of the draoithe. Sent eastward from Umbreanth, it falls to Thea and those with her to face this malign force. Yet for all their resolve and skill, they will not survive the coming encounter without help. In the plains to the east, a lone traveler makes his way to the lands of the Aonraithe. Gideon is not the man he once was, haunted now by recent losses. The watchmaker will need all of his knowledge and cunning to unearth the secrets of his pursuers, and beat them at their own twisted game. In the dark realm of the Sciath, the outposts that stand watch over the wild lands are under attack from within. A new breed of demon has appeared, corrupting its victims in both mind and body. Corinne and the newly named Umbral Company must combat this emerging threat before it consumes the Sciath. Bonds will be tested as paths converge. Promises will be betrayed, and new friendships will be forged. A storm is on the horizon, and unseen powers have begun to strike out against their enemies. Those caught in the conflict will need to put their trust in one another and stand together, beneath the aegis of Umbreanth.
