When darkness fell, everyone feared the maiden. The Great Onslaught of 2048 marked the end of mortal rule. Decades later, the vampires united to give birth to the Eternal Age. The years in between, known as the Savage Gap, were ravaged by fear and bloodshed. In a horrifying time where humanity fought to survive, none were able to challenge the rising factions. That is, until vengeance found its champion.* The Bone Maiden is a prequel tale that leads into the Immortal Wake, an award-winning tech noir series about a dark and distant future. The book trilogy begins with Transient, continues with Thursday Midnight, and concludes with The Mortal Vestige.Praise for the Immortal Wake:"Exceptionally well-written, thought-provoking." —Lex Allen, Readers' Favorite"A fascinating take on the vampire mythos." —Keith Lane, TG Geeks"A philosophical and cultural foray." —Victor Acquista, Podfobler Productions"The world-building ... is simply amazing." —Geoff Habiger, Artemesia Publishing"Gripping suspense that keeps you reading." —S.E. Sasaki, author of The Grace Lord Series
in this case, vampires who embody the noblest, equitable, and familial environment ever envisioned but never attained by humanity. Excerpts from historical articles and recon notes assimilated by Jonas over his years as a transient artfully fill in the blanks of his world and his purpose. Wheeler adeptly uses this plot tactic to add verisimilitude in building this strange new world without massive data dumps and simultaneously providing some breaks in the action. Transient is an exceptionally well-written, thought-provoking novel that ultimately carries a humanist message, contrasting feigned morality with perceived evil. The conclusion is, as usual in a series, a bit of a cliff-hangar. It's not a steep cliff, just enough to leave the reader hungry for the next book, and an answer to the question, 'did Jonas follow orders or not?' Fortunately for me, and I'm sure many readers to come, books two and three (Thursday Midnight and The Mortal Vestige) are readily available."
"I'm an absolute fan of authors, writing in any genre, who can create an entirely new environment and characterization from previously well-known characters
Ben Ragunton, TG Geeks
"Thursday Midnight is quite simply one of the most compelling and intelligent science fiction books to come along in a very long time. Some stories are very plot driven that takes readers on an incredible ride, while others contain themes and ideas that are meant to spark the human intellect and generate conversation about life, society, and what it means to be human and alive. Wheeler here has done something amazing in giving us a book that does both. Thursday Midnight absolutely wrecked me, and I freely admit that from an emotional perspective it is not the kind of book that would be my first choice to read. Nonetheless, it is a brilliant piece of science fiction literature, and the fact that it did wreck me speaks to its efficacy. Thursday Midnight is a dystopian masterpiece."
Ben Ragunton, TG Geeks
"Reading The Mortal Vestige forced me to take a look at the world I live in and the society I'm a part of. By doing so Wheeler has somehow managed to elevate The Mortal Vestige from just being a science fiction story into a work of art, and the best art will always leave you changed after you've experienced it. I was left with a very profound feeling when I finished reading it, and I would very much like to believe that this profound feeling will leave me changed for the better."
