It is a dark, snowy Christmas Eve morning. Jay is coming to the end of his paper round and already looking forward to getting back in the warm. Taking a shortcut home through the park, he finds himself facing a series of bizarre and scary snowmen who seem to have a life of their own. In reality, they are all that remain of children lured to their deaths to satiate the hunger of a vengeful spectre who wants Jay to be his very own Christmas present. Please note this is a short story of 3,100 words. Re-edited in 2016 to solve slight issue mentioned in a review below.
From the Inside Flap
The Silence Fell is a short horror story told in the best tradition of ghosts and terror and that Twilight Zone area between this world and others. Inspired by the Weeping Angel statues from the episode 'Blink' in Doctor Who, this scary story will have you looking over your shoulder the next time you see a snowman in the garden or park. We all love Christmas but Christmas isn't just about the nice things in life and whilst most of the world is having a good time, some people are suffering without anyone even knowing. We all suspect that snowmen have their own lives when we are not watching but surely none as psychotic and demonic as in The Silence Fell. Like snowmen after the thaw however, once read it is hard to tell whether the events in The Silence Fell happened at all. Suitable for adults and young adults alike and perhaps coming soon to Channel 4 television.
