Because his flight was two hours late Tom King's reservation was cancelled. The hotel sent him to another hotel on skid row. A drunken room clerk assigned him to a room that was never to be rented by order of the owner an aging gangster. That night his needed sleep was interrupted by a ghost of a young woman wearing a gold dress from the 1920's. He watches her get murdered. At first he's frightened, but soon he's intrigued and decides to find out all he can about the woman. The old gangster finds out the room has been rented and he orders the hotel to get him out. Tom decides to keep the room instead. Enraged the old gangster demands Tom be killed. Only by the intervention of the ghost is Tom's life saved. But he must help her.
