A Death That Would Not Come

While looking for survivors of a terrible disaster that has left billions dead, a military cadre stumbles across an abandoned bank, bloodied, ruined, and whispering empty tales of its ghosts long since gone. They know that occupants had sought sanctuary within its walls, but the corpses and bullets left behind in the dark, desolate fortress indicate that a sad, grisly tale had unfolded there. Lieutenant William Crowe finds within the edifice the journal of a young woman, signing herself as Claire. Her entries detail the story of a group of survivors, led by a lost, weary man named Vincent, desperate to escape -- or die trying. The scribbled pages reveal that a group of scared college kids turned the building from an empty shell into a standing fortress -- but the safe haven could not last. Crowe observes the aftermath of what Claire witnessed firsthand as she and her friends fought to survive. He must delve into the past written on paper if he has any hope of saving what lives may be left. What went on in the bank? Who was this Vincent? How did the resourceful men and women, battered and weary, manage to escape the horrors that Crowe and his men know all too well? And where have they fled to? Time is running out... Squelching footsteps near... If they don't succeed, Crowe's only hope will be A Death That Would Not Come.

About the Author

Brian Reynolds was born on 1987 in, Missouri. He spent his entire first eighteen years there, and from a very early age became involved in language, communication, and writing. He started writing in the in elementary school, and from then on he has churned out works of all sizes and dealing with all kinds of subjects. Brian nurtured his advanced talents in the English language while in high school, and was involved in the school newspaper, the school literature magazine, writing contests nearly every day. He also participated in editing and guiding the work of his classmates simply for the sheer pleasure of it -- or maybe for the practice! He graduated with honors, received two Cup Awards for English and Journalism, and holds the respect of his classmates and teachers as a gifted young artist of his craft. A Death That Would Not Come is not his first published work, but it is the realization of the beginning of a dream: to become an author. His style is a result of a (short) life of toying with language and words, and the subject material -- the massed horde of undead -- is borne of his fascination with the line between life and death. In the future, Brian intends to permanently reside in Europe, either in Germany's Black Forest or in Siberia's Ural Mountains, where he will hopefully maintain a strong writing career. Besides releasing books, he hopes to have a writing-oriented career that allows him to freely work from home, so that he can spend as much time as possible creatively crafting. He does not intend to get married or have children, and he's looking forward to his life in the years to come.
