About the Author

Michael James McFarland was born in the eastern Washington Palouse country where Fallow Ground is set. He has since married his high school sweetheart, fathered two exceptional children, and currently lives in central Washington state. By day, he works in a sprawling brick building that was erected in the late 1940s as a tuberculosis hospital. Many of his coworkers claim to have experienced ghosts and disturbances within its rooms and corridors. He has been writing for over twenty-five years, and his short fiction has appeared in a variety of formats. Among these, "The Hypnotist" was selected for an Honorable Mention in The Year's Best Fantasy & Horror (15th Annual Collection), 'The Duel' & 'Mira' were produced by Pseudopod as audio podcasts, and 'Deadline' & 'The Yellow Wind' have appeared in print anthologies. With the rise of digital publishing, he has self published two well-received novels, Wormwood and Blood on the Tracks and a novella, Duplex.
