Step back in time to the late 1980's: Karen is a recent college graduate who has read a little about an old abandoned college in Southern Oregon, and decides to move to Kay Falls in hopes of writing her first novel. Within a very short time, however, she realizes there is much more to the story as she becomes deeply involved in the disappearance of her landlord's wife, and gets drawn into another girl's story of her missing friend and a late night at the old college. Karen's landlord, Mike, tells Karen about how his wife Janet has been missing for 2 years, not a sign of her anywhere. A waitress named Kelly tells Karen to stay away from the building and tells her a hair-raising tale of four friends and a secret she can no longer contain. Convinced there has to be someone responsible for the disappearances, Karen becomes part of her own novel as her investigations produce disturbing facts, chilling rumors and outside interference from those who want to keep their secrets to themselves. One by one, almost everyone finds out the truth about what is really going on out there in the middle of nowhere, but are too late to stop what is coming their way. Will Karen survive her own curiosity or become the next victim in this tale of stories within stories?
