Ayrlon, the capital city of the NiAnnon Kingdom, is well on its way to becoming the seat of an official empire. There is unprecedented security after centuries of turmoil. Civilization thrives after the chaotic, barbaric rule of the Pirate Kings. This, however, is only a backdrop, an intentional distraction from the schemes of malevolent beings—a crushing, absolute power in a city already inundated in horror and mystery. Ancient forces threaten to unravel reality, and deliverance is but a faded memory. Truly, Ayrlon is a dark place. Nejio finds himself at the front of this growing conflict; an indifferent loner, he is an unlikely hero. The high priest, Delius, has no interest in the heathen lands beyond the temple of his god. But fate seldom gives us choices. The choice of Brannon and Inniseon's involvement was made for them long ago. Like so much in Ayrlon, they are not as they seem. Individually, they must confront their forgotten origins. Their stories are interwoven in a perilous journey that will bring them face to face with nightmarish entities already in control of a world so lost, few remember its name. Hope burns through time but brightest, even if feebly, when it is most needed. Until the right moment, where better to hide this flickering light than...in the Shadow.
