Private investigator, Mindy Sue Mindy, thinks something is peculiar when her latest client, Lawrence Lockhill, offers her a thousand dollars to find a lost pair of inexpensive cufflinks. Things only become weirder when two disembodied voices offer to help Mindy find the pilfered the cufflinks. The voices introduce themselves as Albert and Maud Halliburton – the original owners of the Lockhill house. But, Maud and Albert have been dead for six years! Mindy doesn’t believe in ghosts – no way – and she isn’t reassured when her mother reveals that her grandmother talked to spirits. Mindy would like to deny the entire haunting thing. However, when her business partner, Matthew McAlister, asks for her help in proving the innocence of his new client, Mindy decides that talking to ghosts might have some advantages. Surely, someone on the other side knows what actually happened. Mindy sets out on a madcap adventure into family, crime, and politics as she becomes entangled in the lives of new friends, both living and dead. (A Ghostly Crime is a cozy mystery with a paranormal twist. There is no graphic violence or sex, and Mindy only swears when all other words fail her.)
