THE CEMETERY INTEVIEWS WITH EDGAR ALLAN POE is a novel way of entertaining, educating, and inspiring both youth and adults about the life and writings of Edgar Allan Poe.Poe created beauty out of the Ludicrous, Grotesque, Fearful, Horrible, Strange, Mystical, and Pathological. Did DESTINY call upon him to be a supernatural, psychological, scientific, cosmological, and literary tour guide to help us with our “curiosity to penetrate the mysteries of these awful regions?”On Halloween night, a storytelling tour guide is hired by ten passengers to take them to the destroyed and abandoned 1800’s Premature Burial Cemetery. Sitting uncomfortably in a dimly light van bouncing over stones, gravel and potholes through a severe autumn night storm, the excursionists are feeling more risky than safe. The tour guide’s storytelling about a series of cemetery conversations between the guide’s great-grandfather and the spirit of Edgar Allan Poe is rattling the imaginations of the passengers. Constructed around the eloquence and artistry of passages from Poe’s stories, poems, essays, and tales, the relationship between the credible and incredible, the horror and beauty of life and death, and the conflict between reality and imagination are all part of the contrivance that is storytelling about Mister Poe.
