Neal and his family are on a tour of European castles when disaster strikes. With no warning, most of the world's population turn into flesh-craving zombies. Along with a small group of other survivors, Neal and his family are forced into a meager existence within the protection of Predjama Castle in Slovenia, making dangerous forays into nearby towns for food and supplies. If a global population of 6 billion zombies were their only trouble. Vampires had once lived in the shadows, able to feed from the dregs of society. Now, most of their food source is gone, leaving these soulless hunters on the prowl for the uninfected. One such vampire sees the survivors in the castle as an opportunity. Vimala protects the castle from zombies, at night feeding upon the survivors while they sleep. Here she satisfies not only her hunger, but her other desires as well. Vimala can protect them from the hordes of zombies, but can she protect them from her own kind? For there are older and far deadlier vampires searching for fresh blood.
