Watch out for the darkness! It’s a bright summer day when Kimi Grave and her family move into the isolated subdivision, Happy Valley. Kimi’s parents flip houses for a living, and Kimi and her brother get dragged along for the ride. However, Happy Valley isn’t like the other places. There are shadows who stare at her and terrifying voices in the night. Most of the houses are mysteriously empty or for sale or both. The people in the local town tell scary stories about Happy Valley and avoid the area like it has the plague. Kimi can’t convince her parents that something is dreadfully wrong and they need to leave. When Kimi’s brother, Oliver, disappears, it’s up to Kimi to save the day, and she will use every weapon in her arsenal to defeat the awful ancient monster that haunts Happy Valley.
